New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

what Jensen thinks of China's EVs is not relevant. He is a chips guy. Why does it matter whether he likes Xiaomi EV or not?

At some point, we have to stop caring about what Westerners think about Chinese EVs. I'm tired of this Chinese lack of self confidence where we glorify what people in America says about Chinese products.
It’s called white worshipping. It is a subconscious decision for most people. Many don’t even relied when they do it

Wait, is this the same company/brand that supplies the PLAGF and PAP's armoured jeeps and patrol vehicles, including ones used during the 2020 Galwan incident? Or same company but different and compartmentalised brand/departments?
Is Dongfeng not a dying car brand ? I’m not sure they adapted quickly to Chinas cutthroat NEV market revolution. But yeah only time will tell. Probably 5years from now many SOE joint ventures will go bankrupt just like GAC/stellantis Chrysler JV did 2 weeks ago.

A massive dry up of uncompetitive private and state owned car makers and consolidation is coming through and only a dozen will survive by the end of the decade .

BYD's high-end brand Denza has encountered difficulties, and consumers do not recognize BYD's high-end sedan models. The success of the Denza MPV in the past made BYD believe that the Denza sub-brand can fully carry the gear of BYD's 400,000 RMB-class models, but then the Denza Z9 series with strong technical strength suffered a great defeat. Analysts believe that BYD's business approach of focusing on technology and neglecting marketing cannot make the new car stand out. Some users began to think that it was a problem with the Denza logo, just like the problem of BYD's logo in the early days, and they also believed that the Denza model did not grasp the real needs of users, such as the sporty appearance and the relatively old-fashioned interior. The inaccurate user positioning and overall design language problems of the Denza sedan are in sharp contrast to the high-profile new energy vehicles released by Huawei and Xiaomi. Embarrassingly, BYD's mid-to-high-end sedan BYD Han series, which once had a good reputation, has also had poor sales due to crazy price wars and criticisms of the modified appearance.
The following list comes from "Autohome".The numbers on the right are the sales of the car series last month.(车系销量)

there is only market for so many luxury vehicle in China. And clear Huawei and Xiaomi have better brand value due to historical reasons..

Denza and FangChengBao together (their more premium brands) sold close to 30k last month. And they have Tai-7 and N8L coming up. What is the point of listing random crazy people online have to say?

BYD is considered the king of electric cars in China, but their high-end vehicles can hardly outsell even some new electric car companies, which shouldn't happen to a company with such a huge market share and technology. This is not a crazy comment, it's a worry for China's top electric car companies.

This is the sales data of BYD Fangchengbao. It can be seen that the sales of the two models in the RMB 240,000 to RMB 430,000 range are also mediocre.

This isn't that surprising. People that have tested both Huawei and Denza products, for example, almost all prefer Huawei. Huawei simply has much better knowledge at what high-end customers want due to knowledge from their electronics business. The concerning thing for Denza is that it is continuing to lose market share against Huawei seemingly without a plan to turn things around.

If anything, it is an outright good thing that BYD is not dominating every segment and must contend with legit domestic competitors. Bad for BYD, sure, but good for the industry.

Has anyone seen any other videos on Bilibili or Weibo talking about the performance of the Xiaomi YU7? What range do they achieve?

I found an article talking about Xuaomi YU7's range being around 500 km despite marketed at 750 km. I'm not sure if this is true or not.

I read a it somewhere as well. But a lot depends on testing conditions. 500km real world for a suv crossover travelling at 100km/hr with AC on and 21 inch wheels is acctually not bad.
