New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Still, from the perspective of true energy efficiency the focus on one driver to one vehicle transportation seems like a dead end no matter how cars get their energy. This is a critique of cars on the whole as opposed to alternatives means of transporting people. Traffic jams are no fun no matter electric or gas powered.

It would impress me more, personally, if China were to focus on encouraging more rubust rapid public transportation, construction policies that encouraged public transport over personal vehicles, electrification of all aspects of logistics grids (especially solving the final home delivery node problem), and greater R&D investment in green long distance cross-ocean passenger transportation.
Aren't they basically doing all those things? Electric buses, rail investments, both urban and intracity/national, subway package delivery, etc.
are we still at this stage of seeking for praise where any famous American giving praise to a Chinese car is worth posting?

It would seem quite sad if we are.
I don't think it's praise seeking, I think it's just pointing out a high profile example of what many in North America want, Chinese EVs! Like in Toronto, it was like 38 degrees or something crazy last week, and you're hoping your ice cream hasn't already turned in goo after 5 minutes. If I had a one of those cars with the full on fridge, no worries...

what Jensen thinks of China's EVs is not relevant. He is a chips guy. Why does it matter whether he likes Xiaomi EV or not?

At some point, we have to stop caring about what Westerners think about Chinese EVs. I'm tired of this Chinese lack of self confidence where we glorify what people in America says about Chinese products.

Jensen is a smart guy. Someday nvidia and Apple will partner together and make some hitech EVs.

Nio is finished. Their bet on Battery swapping didn't pay off since fast charging is now fast enough to no longer need the complicated battery swapping system. It used to be the big darling of Chinese EV companies.
Not really, super-fast charging shortens the life of batteries, while batteries stored in swap stations can be charged in an optimal time frame that prolong their lives. Battery-swapping is also suitable for heavy commercial vehicles that use large capacity batteries, which require more time to charge.

In the first half of 2025, more than 62% of Brazil's car imports came from China.

Chinese Car Exports to Brazil Hit Record in First Half

Brazil’s imports of Chinese-made automobiles rose to a record in the first half of 2025, with 134,582 vehicles arriving from the Asian nation. The figure represents a 3.6% increase from the 129,933 vehicles imported during the same period in 2024.

Cars from China now account for 62.1% of all vehicles imported into Brazil. The 134,600 cars from China are roughly triple the 40,616 vehicles sourced from Argentina, which was previously Brazil’s top supplier of imported cars until China took the lead in 2024.

Mexico remained the third-largest source, exporting 20,331 cars to Brazil. The analysis is based on data from Comex Stat, a foreign-trade statistics system maintained by Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services.

Dongfeng M-Hero/Warrior M817 may become one of the best-selling hardcore SUV in China. Unlike some 4x4 posers such as Tai 3 and iCar V23, it has a full-size spare tire as an option. It has 912 hp, 4-wheel steering, Huawei's ADS 4 driving assistance system, and HarmonyOS cockpit. The starting price is $46,000.

Wait, is this the same company/brand that supplies the PLAGF and PAP's armoured jeeps and patrol vehicles, including ones used during the 2020 Galwan incident? Or same company but different and compartmentalised brand/departments?
