ZFB91 wheeled armored anti riot vehicle. Fielded by the HongKong and Macau garrisons. HongKong garrison has a 12.7mm MG installed on the turret, whereas the Macau version has a 7.62mm. The above is the 7.62mm version. According to speculation/rumours the gun is derived from the type 80 MG.

I hightly doubt it's a Direct clone or even copie of the USARMY stryker. More likely it's just parrellel evolution that being that for the job of light fast armour an 8 wheeled hull is best. you see the same thing with Tanks though they were built by difrent goverments trying to out do the others they all pretty much look the same from WW2 to today.

To be honest, the shape of the hull is pretty similar to the Stryker design, maybe the chinese really got influenced by the Stryker. Copy is not a bad thing when u tries to get the good stuff.... But if the result are bad, then copy is bad...

Umm it looks like every other 8 wheeled vehicle in serivce. The Stryker looks likes a Patria, which looks like a Piranha, which looks like a Boxer.

It looks like a stryker therefore it must be a copy, those darn Chinese, no originality. Such trite racism. You have no basis for that statement. Do you know the internal engineering of that new vehicle? All you can tell from external appearances are ... external appearances.

It's hardly racism to ask if something is based of something else. If you keep throwing that word around it becomes meaningless.

Well, I didn't say that's a copy right away, i said i could maybe have been influenced by the stryker design because of the hull concept... and basically, all of those type of armored vehicule have the same kind of internal concept... Engine in the front beside the driver and loading space for infantry or cargo is in the back compartement... And i just mean the this design is likely to be influence by the Pirahna/LAV/Stryker style of design... since i don't think that's similar to Russian BTR's design or French AMX-10RC design....

BTW, I think that it's very possible that from the picture that petty officer show us, the design is not based on the American Stryker, but more on the European Joint MRAV which is a joint project by a few European country to have a common Light Armored Vehicule

If this really is a new PLA vehicle it is good to see that they are finally fielding something that appears to be able to afford some real protection to troops riding in it, and it appears to have a ramp!

Copy in concept, not in design. And to assume that copying something is 'trite racisim' is not only unfounded but soundly untrue. Everyone copies from everyone else. WW2, perfect example. Americans copy German Designs who copied from the Russians who copied from the Germans who copied from both the British and Americans.

Germans were very highly skilled when it came to design, but when they copied elements of the T-34 tank, they made the awesome Tiger and Panther tanks. Surely, they weren't stupid people who could not make a better design on their own, but they saw the Russian designs as efective and based the designs thusly. The result were two of the best tanks of the war.

China has had a long history of 'copying' weapons and technologies from other sources. It's smart: because they know that it is a better investment to take a proven technology and design rather than thinking up something radical and shiny new, only to have it fail and waste millions trying to improve or edit it.

And I would thank you kindly not to whiplash anyone who tries to ask a simple question by condemning it as bigotry.

Also, nice to see the improvements over the WZ551. Certantly makes less of a target now.
