I thought it was going to be this complicated intellectual thing but surprised how it was not which sort of came as a disappointment after the books getting all these praises and awards. They also inserted a lot of weird Westernization, turning the story into a typical netflix diverse friends on adventure template story. Don't recommend it at all, I gave up after one episode.

The tencent show is a lot more authentic though pacing is a bit slow. I recommend reading the books before watching any show though

1. Omitted CR Red Guards scene where her dad was beaten to death - which is kinda critical to explaining why she contacted the Trisolarans in the first place;
2. The cop was annoying;
3. The non-Chinese actors were rubbish. Surely they could have found someone better to play the important role of Colonel Jessup? Or at least avoided him having an Australian accent when he's supposed to be American.
