Yeah, the problem is that unless someone is very familiar with different creatures in Chinese mythology or the differences are explained in the movie most people including many Chinese will just think "dragon", or maybe "kirin" thanks to the beer, when they see the depiction.

As the lead character is a foreigner, it would make sense some of the Chinese characters should explain the origin of the monsters to him as a natural part of the story. Then the moviegoers would naturally learn about the monster. At least, that's what I would do if I were the director.

IMO movies made from comic book heroes and all that CGI stuff are overdone these days so ill probably give Spiderman and Wonder Woman a miss at the theatre, and flick through a DVD version sometime later.

The only movies Im committed to seeing so far for 2017 is "The Mummy,"and "The Ghost In the Shell" "Bladerunner" and with a big ??? over"The Great Wall"

If you've got Netflix, all the Disney/Marvel releases will show up at some point as per contract.

Yes but one still has to pay on top of the monthly subscription to view the more recent or popular movies on Netflix. Also my father has been on the lookout for a Movie called "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" which is one of a whole heap of movies he's after and Netflix does'nt have.
I have a substantial collection and still growing of DVD's, a lot of which I have'nt even watched. My main concern now is that when I get around to watching them, they will have stopped making DVD players.

Why still collecting DVD? At least you should switch to BD by now?

If you worry about finding players, you should start collecting those players as well. They are cheap and well made. You can now get a very good quality BD/DVD player for $40-50. That's the price of about 2 movies.

And most BD packages that you get nowadays also include digital versions of the movies. So you can download the movies onto your computer/tablet for safekeeping.

When I bought my TV, the retailer threw in a Blue ray player as well and my new acquisitions are of the Blue ray variety. Its just that most of DVD /B Ray collection came from a closing down video rental outlet.I got 450-500 of them for $1000

P.S.
I might decide to become a "Prepper" one day. I live in the ideal location for it. A farm which is close to off the grid.We make our own biogas/fuel /electricity, animal waste.Self sustaining in food A very big selection of equipment, oodles of electric fencing and barbed wire with the farm digger/gradder I can create kill zones.Yup I will be well prepared for Armagedon, or Walking Dead, and plenty of DVDs to entertain myself with as their will be no more internet or netflix;)

We really like Dr. Strange and The Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them.

We'll see Rogue One on Thursday.

I think you will enjoy it Jeff. As some have said Star Wars seemed to have lost its way a bit with Lucas's prequels. This one has gone some ways in putting it back on track.
