I won't rule out a few Americans that have common sense to make intelligent comments. But mostly these comments are made by Chinese Americans, Russian Americans, and people from other countries. It is not regular Americans that are commenting on Yahoo for not popular article.

Taiwanese are also very active in making negative comments on China in some Yahoo articles. If you have popular article about China with many comments, then it is mostly negative and moronic. Those articles are filled with right rings and nationalistic Americans that just want to send China back to stone age.

He also simps India and Arabs as well. Apparently according to him the Arabs run the most effective military unit in Russia's disposal. It's a real shame that the rest of us here have yet to understand his sentience.

It might be his last chance to reverse the increasingly tight stranglehold on Russia and dismantle the existing order. And judging from the economic havoc the war has caused on the West, it appears that Putin was correct after all. As for the Russian military, it simply wasn't Putin's field of expertise.

Their was a big bet on Ukraine leadership and moral collapsing when the conflict started. Russia gambled a lot on this. Didn't happen, got a hot potato to manage without any gloves and they received a good kick where it hurt. They managed to take some hold of the situation last autumn after Kherson city withdrawal.

Russia will clearly need to doubledown and act to bring the conflict to a positive end for them. Backmut is a pebble on the road at this point and it have taken so long to toss aside. Ukraine have already no firm positive end so they have way less to lose. They can be way more cocky with weapons given to them from NATO and unlimited will to commit presently...

They're basically admitting, by this, that Chinese sanctions are working.

They'll probably retaliate with sanctions, which means it's time for more counter sanctions.

Speaking of ending conflict, personally, I think that now it is the Russian side that may be less willing to promote peace talks: Russia’s domestic economy and finance are basically stable, the people have been mobilized, domestic affairs are basically controllable, and the vast majority of third world countries are basically neutral. This year, Russia’s economy may even grow positively, while Western Europe’s politics and economy are generally not good, not to mention the United States. If the war continues until next year, then Biden might as well withdraw from the election. If I were Putin, I would definitely try to drag the war into next year.

It will drag for long for sure but it always depend how the conflict evolve. Escalation to nuclear weapons is a no-go for Russia but NATO are poking wildely. Russia’s economy is surviving but on a tight rope, the sky is not out of clouds..

Do they want the situation to escalade to that point ? Where and when they will stop ?

Ukraine ''leadership'' don't care at all and if they got anything to escalade the situation they will use it for sure. Clearly, Russia leadership would not want escalation to a state of a NATO direct conflict (beside zealot Medvedev). Right now any nuclear reactors in posession of Ukraine is a ticking bomb for Russian advance.
