The US and its allies do still have quite a number of monopolies on various specific sectors, tech, tools etc.

Although China have been working on breaking through those monopolies for the last many years if not decades, and many have in fact broken, although still many does wait to be broken.

This is the point, or questions, we should ask, given the recent news of more US bans against Chinese companies.

1. Will these new bans be able to reverse that list in the above link, where the United States bans its way back to the top?

Answer: Ban its way back to the top? Kind of unlikely.

2. Will these new bans change anything with respects to that list in the above link?

Answer: Anything is possible. Like Jim Carrey said in Dumb and Dumber, "So there is a chance!"

3. What would be the most appropriate response by the PRC or people, to these new US bans?

Answer: anger, dismay, excitement, agitation, utter confusion. :D

These hypothetical answers, are not revelations.


This is my own personal feeling about it.

We seen this movie before. It was Huawei, staring Ren Zhenfei and his daughter. Shot in Shengzhen Europe campus, along with Vancouver suburb. Highly recommended for review of geopolitical fight, pushing the limits of international diplomacy, technical capabilities, and human emotions. Prism Prism on the wall, who is the more trustworthy one of all?

Yes, the US and it's allies still have many monopolies on various tech, tools etc. But China has been breaking such monopolies every year, and will continue to do so.

And no, China is not 'just low and mid level manufacturing' that you said earlier.
China has moved into various high level manufacturing, and yes, might not be every single one that they have moved into, and some of the ones they have moved into, they might still not be the leader in the field or have a big % of the market but still.

In long term, the US has nothing to gain from its supposed deglobalization. People will just move on but without the US. The only reason they have this much leverage is increased global trade which made their products monopolies everywhere because of the market size of the USA and first mover advantage. The US anti-trade turn assumes 2 things:

Global south won't be able to develop its own tech
US allies will forever be loyal

In case even one of these doesn't hold true only thing this behavior will lead to is the decline of American influence. People won't buy or use their stuff so they won't get the money or leverage. There is no single civilization in history ever benefited from autarky, none.

Did you know the Europeans arms embargo is still on the books? Where is the Euro stealth fighter?

Where is the American hypersonic weapon, weapons that China and Russia both have deployed? In the case of Russia, they have actually used.

Facts speak for themselves.

Does the west have a monopoly on oil and gas, because people would be quite stupid to assume that if the USA does try to use these monopolies on China that the same cannot be applied to energy going to the collective west and not matter what the USA does, if the USA loses its world reserve status, it’s either the USA ceases using these monopolies to do harm or the rest of the USA will revolt for the lack of cheap resources when the inflation explodes into the atmosphere. Even if the USA tries to ban everything and sanction everything, it means nothing if the majority of the nation under goes chaos because none of these sanction is going improve the USA in any meaningful way in regards to jobs (due to high wages) and quality of life (who is going to afford these goods) and will ultimately turn even more nations against the USA then they already have, I mean the Europeans are not happy about the USA harvesting the EU for companies, what makes the rest of the world want to help the USA in regards to China when all they do is threaten all the time.
One day, the USA might end up being banned by the rest of the collective south from any meaningful resources like energy and food and maybe even banned from life as well given how many nations are getting quite sick of the USA right now. If Biden cannot solve the food issues and all those retail stores closing down all over the places (looking at Walgreens and Costco and even Amazon), these sanctions will mean nothing. One day, it could even be to the worlds benefit that should the USA really end up in a weakened position and the USA bans China from any of its tech, then all the nations that have suffered as a result of the USA should involve a ban on the right for the USA existing as a nation, starting with the leadership on their right to breath

USA is focused to contain China by and through all means. China needs to be careful how to navigate in this environment. USA wants to isolate China even from the global south. It's all their master plan.

That's why all these bans are coming on china. Anti china environment would convince them that Chinese products are not trustable so they would purchase other products even if it's little inferior in quality.

That's why I don't see huawei harmony OS much in outside of china, china has made it but making and selling are different things people like to buy from trusted brand. Most of them buys Chinese products because it's low cost compare to others.

China need to make it product as trustable as Google, apple otherwise just no matter what excuses you give it won't help china.

You're just stating prejudices and not facts.

TikTok is the number #1 downloaded app in this world. They trust it enough to use it regularly.

Shien is the number #1 fashion brand, and they trust it enough to buy things through that platform.

The word you're looking for here, is platform. Google and Apple, they are essentially platforms.

China has it own platforms, and they are going global. That going global, because Chinese platforms are trusted.

To say otherwise, is not fact.
