I think it's been evident for a long time to everyone here that the quality of western media reporting on China isn't fit to be used as toilet power. Western media on China serves to reinforce and pander to pre-existing biases and prejudices than any capacity to inform and educate. Those same biases and prejudices are then further reflected in the views expressed online in threads and forums and given far too much weight when they should be given none. The western media picks up on these ignorant and misinformed opinions and writes articles to pander to them. So continues the feedback loop of western media on China.Protests in China are over. Imagine thinking this could topple the CPC or lead to the balkanization of China. What's funnier is the CPC ended them by reaching a mutual compromise with the people, something rarely happens today in English-speaking countries. Of course, people who constantly preach "You can't protest in China or you die" will come with a lot of bad takes or will simply play three monkeys instead of letting their superiority complex go. All of their theories about China got discredited again. Almost nobody wants Westernization in China and the CPC actually listens to the people.
And the people who were posting hysteric comments or advocating for a crackdown last week here should pay attention to what happened too. Their image of China might not accurate or they may be under the influence of British and American propaganda.
China doesnt have a choice, it now better know what its up against and what it must ultimately do in order to have any chance of long term survival
A renegade colony that genocided an entire landmass to later take over the world on the way up isnt going to change habits on the way down
Hopefully central policy making will be augmented by AI in the future... its all data analysis... no need for Mao/Xi "personality" or "culture", just AI will help make the best choices based on the available information... take the human flaws out of the equationThe trouble is, it's difficult to go against your cultural nature. The average Chinese person isn't as intolerant as the average American, and so don't see why China needs to "dominate". That's why you don't see Chinese politicians, intellectuals, or social media voices calling for China to impose its values on the world. Only Americans do that on a regular basis.
For the same reason, crusader nations can mobilize their populations in wars of aggression much easier. Even Russia is better than China at this because it has that tradition of Christian conversion. It's why a small island kingdom like Britain colonized most of the world, while the Ming Dynasty scrapped its treasure fleet, and China didn't even bother to colonize Taiwan until the Dutch established a foot hold there.
Historically, when China expanded, it was for economic and geopolitical reasons - pacifying a region that repeatedly threatens Chinese lands, or taking over a region with vital trade routes or productive farmers who were similar enough to Chinese that they could be taxed. Chinese have always had a "live and let live" attitude, in this respect - the Confucian scholars of old divided the world between the civilized Chinese and the barbarians, and indicated that should the barbarians want to join the Chinese, great; but if they don't, whatever. By contrast, if you look at the ideology of the crusader nations, it's almost always a variation of "all heathens must be converted or killed"; which today translates into "all nations that aren't democratic must be destroyed."
It's hard for Chinese to wrap their minds around such an intolerant, genocidal culture, especially when they've gotten used to decades of the US essentially putting money above all else, because greed became the new Western religion.
But these days, the West is increasingly turning back to its old ways. You can see it in the new generation of Western citizens and leaders who are more and more intolerant of opposing cultures and views. This isn't a new development; rather it's the way they've been for thousands of years - it's the last twenty years that were the exception.
France given go-ahead to ban internal flights
France has been given the green light to ban short haul domestic flights.
The European Commission has approved the move which will abolish flights between cities that are linked by a train journey of less than 2.5 hours.
The decision was announced on Friday. The changes are part of the country’s 2021 Climate Law.
France is also cracking down on the use of private jets for short journeys in a bid to make transport greener and fairer for the population.
Transport minister Clément Beaune said the country could no longer tolerate the super rich using private planes while the public are making cutbacks to deal with the energy crisis and climate change.
France has officially been given the go-ahead to halt environmentally-damaging domestic flights.
Connecting flights will also have to follow these new rules.
Well, we here in Asia known it as fact.I think it's been evident for a long time to everyone here that the quality of western media reporting on China isn't fit to be used as toilet power. My solution to the Chinese national team is to send @ansy1968 to as many African countries as possible. In 20 years many half Chinese African will be eligible for the Chinese national team....
The more Gordon Chang says China will collapse, the more the UK actually will lmaoEven Reuters is writing this. Turns out Lithuania and Ukraine is not an alternative to the EU and China. And basing everything on finance and education, and killing the industry was a bad idea.
