Most of the Chinese diplomats speak English way better than the Saudi oil minister in that tweet.
Tiger Yang BTFO Blinken in Alaska in Chinese Language, the whole world understood his words. He could have done the same in English, but there is no need since the Chinese language is of equal status in the world. Rise of China means end of Anglo worshipping in all domains, including language.

Irrelevant info but that Saudi Energy Minister is actually a Saudi Royal or more specifically a Saudi Prince.
Again, context matters. In a diplomatic setting between peers no diplomat is expected to speak in any language other than their own. That's what interpreters are for.
So to clarify in case I wasn't already clear, my reply was in response to LawLeadsToPeace's desire for Chinese officials to have such ability as that of the Saudi energy minister in his dressing-down of the reporter.
Unlike CMP as he's so keen to react, I have no personal desire to express my opinion on what foreign language Chinese government officials should or shouldn't learn to speak.

Why do you assume Chinese officials, especially the foreign ministry can't debate in English? Just because they don't respond back in English because that would be beneath them and denigrate the Chinese language, doesn't mean they don't have a good grasp of debating in English.
For example, look at this takedown of Pelosi by Fu Ying at Munich Security Conference 2020.
Seems like Pelosi has dedicated all of her brain cells to insider trading. I mean there are so many examples she could have used like Facebook or Google ban. Instead can't even think of a proper retort...
