They claim that they now have enough gas to get through the winter. The question is how much it's going to cost their consumers and how much they are able to subsidize. Supposedly there are already plans to subsidize to the tune of 5% of GDP, but it's hard to say whether that's enough when the gas prices are what they are.

Honestly, China doesn't need to do much to fuck Japan. Just make sure their military-aged men, especially those in the "spring of youth" of completely die during the war. They're already the oldest country by demographic age, so the loss of a substantial portion of their young men means that the burden of carrying their elderly becomes overwhelming. They will not be viable as a nation anymore after that much like the Byzantines ruined the Bulgars after the Battle of Kleidon
Considering that US companies are making $100-$200 million PER LNG delivery to EU, I'd say Brandon won't mind prolonging the war for as long as he could. $1.5 billion per month is only 15 LNG deliveries per month at most, a very small price to pay.
