Another reason is the intense, increasing sinophobia in the USA today. I live here and the anti-China fearmongering/hostility is as palpable as oxygen. It's literally everywhere.

When the govt and mainstream media repeatedly refer to you as a "communist spy", "traitor", "not American", etc. you will eventually start looking elsewhere. One country is openly hostile towards you, while another welcomes you with open arms and flowers. It's not surprising to see people choose the latter over the former.

I doubt the US govt would be introspective towards their own mistakes anytime soon. So they will continue to witchhunt ethnic Chinese scientists while simultaneously being ignorant as to why some are choosing to move back to China.

It's a repeat of Qian Xuesen all over again..

I agree. India is a black hole, that its chances of survival in its current state may only be 50/50.

Of course US doesn't know how to deal with this - in their short history they've pretty much only dealt with nation states and have never encounter an ascendant civilization state before.

Is it really that hard to understand? Even the terminology is blatant. Chinese-American, African-American, Native-America and so on. You will forever be something ‘other’ first and American second. No matter how many generations since your ancestors first emigrated or were abducted to America. So long as you are not white, you will forever be your skin colour first and American second. It’s not hard to decide to say ‘fuck it and fuck you’ to a place and people that will never fully accept you or your descendants and go to somewhere where you will not forever be the outsider. Especially when you get better pay and perks.

But does it have more political intrigue and backstabbing than Washington or Kiev though? That's the ultimate question.

@SinoSoldier do you ever try to go back a couple of pages when you get on this forum? This is on the same level of stupidity as the claim last month that tanks are being sent to crush bank protestors.

Widespread support in Congress for pumping aid to Ukraine is starting to show signs of fracturing as many Republicans in the House question whether the money would be better spent combating China and tackling economic problems facing the U.S., according to a dozen lawmakers and congressional staff from both parties.

As November’s midterm elections approach, the continuing flow of aid is falling out of favor with many House Republicans who are struggling to justify the overseas spending to their constituents in the midst of domestic concerns including high inflation and economic uncertainty. That might intensify if Republicans, as expected, win a majority in the House starting in January.

Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R., La.) and conference chair Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.) the second- and third-highest ranking House Republicans, recently declined to commit when asked publicly whether they would continue providing aid to Ukraine should Republicans take control.

“There are a lot of members that want to see more accountability in the Department of Defense and more of a focus on the threats that are out there,” Mr. Scalise told reporters earlier this month. “China is moving very aggressively to build up a naval fleet, and right now our naval fleet is in decline.”

Yeah this stupid fool thinks being anti Russia when they provide their electricity is being smart. Oh well, maybe she should either step down and pass the leadership over to a pro Russian leader or the people should send the Russians her worthless head for basically making the nation the enemy of Russia for no good reason.
