Emotionally, yes. Not as bad as middle aged Chinese couples in Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou/Shenzhen when the husband is found to have "小三" and the couple is divorcing each other.Well, Americans apparently like to live over the edge LOL
I agree with everything you said except that the US is not the enemy of China. You don't actually have to get into a kinetic war to be enemies. As rivals in every domain, wishing only ill on the other party, that qualifies very much as emnity. Americans don't want China to do well; some want China totally destroyed. As more and more Chinese come to understand America's nature, they will want the same, and emnity towards the US in China's youth is fast rising for very good and obvious reasons (though likely still less than what the US reciprocates at this point). China and the US may be too big and powerful to truly come to blows but make no mistake, they are absolutely antagonists and enemies to each other.
When Pelosi visited Taiwan, there was a nation-wide uproar for war. Yet the top leadership practiced all the conventional Chinese wisdoms and turned the crisis into an opportunity. As a result, the nominal notion of the middle line of the Taiwan strait effectively disappeared while China standing on the moral high ground.
That is just one of many examples in the game of throne, a.k.a. the competition of major powers today.
I have no emotion when it comes to US/China relationship. I have an extensive family of over 100 living in Shanghai for generations. Some people in China has been yelling for war for years, including my family members and close friends. But all are emotional expression of the day rather than hard-headed conviction.
As recent boycotts against Korea/Japan/Europe companies indicated, when the Chinese public views US as the Chinese enemy, I can bet my entire net worth the sales of Apple and Tesla will start nose-diving in the Chinese market.
So, the point, is that the Chinese public is way more sane and mature that those non-Chinese who are ill-minded wanting to see US and China fighting or destroying each other.
So, bro, if you are a Chinese, I can forgive your naivety.
