yup they are testing UCAVs that is heaviest in its class. you are under estimating the amount of manpower required to create Civil Aviation industry and thats Russia priority.
A flying prototype. What about operational drones? The enemy doesn't care about what super drones Russia has in development. The enemy only cares about what drones that Russia can bring to the battlefield. The ones that can go to the fight right now?
Russian either has inferior or non-existent drones to these:
1) TB2 Bayraktar
2) Bayraktar Akinci
3) Wing Loong I & II
4) MQ-1C Grey Eagle
5) MQ-9 Reaper
6) RQ-4 Global Hawk
Russian drones in Ukraine still lack the capability to directly attack targets of opportunities. What most of them are doing now is lasing targets for 152mm Krasnopol shells. This is roughly equivalent to Western drone usage prior to 2010. Worse still, Russia completely lacks HALE UAVs to survey a battlefield like NATO could.
I am rooting for Russia in its fight against Ukraine and the West. But blatant Russian mistakes must be highlighted. Russia's hubris in UAV procurement seems to be their biggest mistake. Russia underdeveloped UCAVs, yet refuse to purchase or license superior foreign designs to plug the gap or learn new technologies.
