I think its highly unlikely that someone as higher up as dong jingwei would defect and escaped via Hong Kong as the rumour suggested, he would've been intercepted right away
However what is likely is that attemps to infiltrate and to recruit agents within China is increasing since cia agents has been wiped out back in 2011
Infiltration by the CIA has been going on forever. When Wang Lijun tried to seek asylum in the US consulate back in 2012, he was in there for 30+ hours. Through Wang, the CIA could have gotten a list of potential targets that was vulnerable for recruitment. Maybe people that were under investigation under Xi’s anti-corruption campaign.

Xi’s anticorruption campaign is also partly directed at potential moles within the CCP.

Jack Ma’s disappearance was obvious western propaganda. You could smell that from a mile away. Ma was lying low, but he wasn’t in some gulag like Bloomberg wanted people to believe.

In Dong’s case, I raised the possibility of possible defection. And you went nuts about some western sensibility, lol.

You don’t know for sure he didn’t defect as much as I don’t know for sure that he did. So u chill out.
I know he hasn't defected and didn't defect because of the recent proclamations the man just made recently and that's good enough for me period. But that piece of news doesn't seem to satisfy your curiosity so that's on you and the U.S. to produce any more convincing evidence that they have the man they're supposed to be claiming to have defected to them.

I have learned enough to smell b.s. for a long time now with respect to the American way of propaganda. Now more than ever that America and her allies have pretty much ramped up the pressure against China the type of "news" you and I are seeing, reading in the western press and all types of media are going to be more inventive and outlandish. My apologies for coming strong against your question and concern regarding that possibility. You have the right to raise such a concern and I shouldn't have been more understanding and less quick on the trigger.

Chinese people living in the west are often the strongest defender of China. They are proud of their Chinese heritage and what China has accomplished in the last 30 years.

The onus is not on China, but nor is it on me to disproof Dong’s defection. I raised the possibility of defection. It’s a rumor that’s making the headlines. But is it completely implausible that Dong defected.
Disagree. As Chinese diaspora myself who left as a child, the vast majority of my "support" for my China is actually just complete and utter disdain for the English speaking western world. For those of us with no strong memories of China or 2nd/3rd generation diaspora, there really isn't much pride or connection per say in/with China. If people wanted that to be true, the United Front would have to be something other than a waste of space and money.

Consider the Israeli diaspora outreach program, where the Israeli government hosts 2 week vacations for all Jews (of the correct ethnicity) to showcase Israel's high points, among a lot of other things. What has China done for people like me in the diaspora? Jack and shit to be honest. I'm in the category of high skill technology talents the PRC wants but ngl when I look at their diaspora outreach programs, I feel uh cheated when I think back to some of my Jewish friends speaking about Israeli outreach to their diaspora.

Luckily for China the western world seems hellbent on persecuting the yellow peril in insulting and petty ways so I'm planning my exit to the mother land anyways but it's not out of enthusiasm and more out of contempt for the west.

Why did he defect - if we're to entertain the idea that China's Spy Chief defected to the U.S. - what was or his motivation for doing so? After decades of helping China ascend to it's current status he's had enough of the growth and now he wants to see China democratize and what's the best thing to do is to actually head to it's most pre-eminent competitor/foe to further enhance by showing evidence that China not only leaked the virus but affirms and confirms just about every American accusations against China's maligned activities in the U.S. what's in it for the man? A healthy conscience and a billion $$ with a few mistress plus a chance hob knob with elites and think tanks?

What's your theory or theories because you seemed really concerned that this could be the case and it's the same sort of concern you raised about the now fake news b.s. about the impending radioactive nuclear plant or some b.s. that was reported first by C.N.N.

People defect for various reasons but what I want to know is what do you infer to be the man's motivation for doing so if indeed this is the case.
Didn't 60 mins Australia did an exclusive interview about a high level Chinese intelligence officer who defected to Australia a couple of years ago. Turns out later he was nothing more than a conman. :D

Might as well post this Guo f..ker's latest rant or in his mind "intelligence report" brought to him by an " insider"..am sure half If not all what this fella is saying here will be picked up and repeated by some American media and then will have the creative license to make this rant more insidious and more "believable"

Dudes on CIA payroll, he also in bed with Steve Bannon... Recall when covid first started Bannon was on his "Warroom Pandemic" show talking with US bioweapons experts on how this virus was going to break the back of CCP and be the takedown of Xi

Everything he says about China is actually a true projection of America.
