I have no doubt that China will NOT attack Taiwan within the next 2 years. A better estimate in my opinion would be 6-12 more years from today.
@Aniah same feeling bro, both side of the strait want a peaceful solution and I said it again this pandemic even though it had bought hardship and pain is a godsend for China, it had bought her precious time (for about 5 years) and had gain significant leverage. Bro pre pandemic the US is ready to strike, this covid 19 in my opinion is one of those. What happen next is a game changer in my opinion, instead of disintegrating the whole nation unite and it forces a rethink inside pentagon and of US political elite. If China within 5 years reach parity with the US, will America accept the inevitability? That question will be the hallmark of US CHINA relationship from 2025 onwards.

China’s top spy catcher has urged the country’s intelligence officers to step up their efforts to hunt down foreign agents and insiders who collude with “anti-China” forces.
Dong Jingwei, the vice-minister of state security, made the comments on Friday at a seminar on a counter-espionage regulation that came into effect in April.
A report on the event posted on Changanjian, the social media account operated by China’s top law enforcement agency, the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, did not specify where the seminar was held.

Do you get the feeling that CNSA's progress, the BRI, expansion of PLA etc etc are actually inadvertently causing a Star Wars 2.0 with the US, causing them to spend money willy nilly to counter them instead of on their own infrastructure to fix root issues?
Thats why the us is going down the path of soviet union, spending itself to the ground

This article explained perfectly the folly of us insistence of cold war 2.0

The thing is, the root issue of US isn't Infrastructure. Americans in the forum know it, I know it, you know it, most know it.

Its this belief that their systems are the best and their economic ideologies are flawless. Corporations, in the pursuit of quarterly profits, lead the country down a bad path. Lobbying is legalized corruption. Maybe I have not read enough - but as I understand, there is no proper checks and balances against Lobbying and the special interests.

However, For all the bad things pointed out, it's also a fact that US is this strong because of the same systems and corporations.

But I reaffirm, this isn't a good model for any country that values its civilizational cultural credentials or long term existence. It may fit well with a country that has a "silent majority" with rapture culture.

A Republican Presidency led by Cotton and Pompeo in 2025 may well back a call for Taiwan independence in 2025.

Well there are checks and balances in the US system.

Take for example the environmental lobby. There are many groups lobbying for environmental protection. But they are checked and balanced by the oil companies. The oil corporations like ExxonMobil check and balance the environmental lobby.

See?

@B.I.B. bro they have their chances before covid, 2019 is China vulnerable period under Xi and if by 2025 with all the optimistic forecast on China had been achieved, will you think a Cotton or Pompeo presidency had the guts to take on China with a divided domestic support, uncommitted allies (yeah the Aussie will surely have a rethink before joining) a parity in technology and a peer opponent? And less we forget the strategic alliances between Russia , China and Iran. It will bankrupt the US and Putin is right the American will have its Soviet Union moment. And bro my scenario, if the US support a Taiwan independence, an invasion will commence simultaneously with Russia invasion of Ukraine with Iranian attacking US forces in Iraq, let see if the American can able to withstand a three prong attack.
