wont those still need to be refined though? also how will it reach Japan, via azerbaijan?
Unlike Rich countries like EU or US, poorer global south countries can setup RE processing on the cheap. The biggest problem is labor cost which allowed China to get the monopoly in the first place.

Most global south countries are setting up heavy industry to be able to build metals and other components needed to develop their country. RE will come as a by product.

I don't expect China to be able to keep RE monopoly for more than 10 years. atleast 30-40% of production will come from other poorer countries.

Isn’t this AI? I’m seeing a lot of this kind of stuff on YouTube these days where you see people of notoriety staring into a camera boringly lecturing. There’s another one of a very dull and plain Asian guy with glasses on so many different channels discussing all sorts of things from geopolitics down to how to unclog your pipes with simple household ingredients. “He’s” all over YouTube.

There’s one I saw recently where their was some glitch where the video was normal but there was some sound error on the voice and the person on camera actually lip-synced the error making it look like the person broke into an alien language all of the sudden like you see in the movie Disclosure Day.

i doubt it, and it’s not just because all the refining and techniques are in China, it’s also because of economies of scale, it makes sense to send your rare earth ores to China for refining than to do it yourself, otherwise how’re you going to compete on the open market selling your newly refined rare earth and to whom? Will it be as good a quality as that needed for the pentagon? Or ASML?

In the Washington consensus, Asians are expected to be blood bags and coolies for their white, male and perhaps Jewish overlords. Obamas G2 was exactly this proposition, and in return China would get….maybe a pat on the head and maybe they’ll cast a Chinese female in the new avengers movie, but she has to have a white male love interest or turn gay with a black lesbian lover, and the chinese female actress has to prostitute herself to the Epstein class As well.

Reminder that when Meloni visited China, President Xi received Her with dignity and the Chinese staff afforded her every dignity, as she took her child in tow as well, as a single mother. In return, Meloni stole Chinese companies for the EU and sided with her fellow white and European countries.
now, Trump relegates her to a Bunga Bunga call girl, berlusconi elicited more respect even when he was hungover.

I think you are underselling it a bit. I can see some potential traction with lower income countries trying to go down that route.

Specifically for military applications initially and trying to scale using military requirements as a base. The difficulty will come when the commercial side, where prices will be a major factor, is considered. I can see some really stupid policies coming out of the US+ group, with mandates or laws and with flimsy excuses.

Ultimately, I don’t see 30-40% but a portion will be shifted if attempts to scale refining in another country happens.
