Ah, now the CGTV ban is starting to make sense, Chinese media rebuttals are speaking way more truth than what the west can tolerate. Imagine if these highly dangerous subversive ideas about having competent governments being able to actual do something to reduce all the needless and entirely preventable Covid deaths start to poison the minds of western citizens! The horror!

So Ofcom has revoked CGTNs license to broadcast in UK
Yes, because CGTN did not (and presumably has never) complied with OFCOM rules. They're not exactly onerous to follow. In this case it was having independent editorial control.

CGTN ultimately reports to the CCP. It doesn't just happen to follow the CCP's talking points, that's by design.

Even Russia Today is currently able to stay within OFCOM boundaries regarding general licensing matters, even if it has been fined in the past. Russia Today isn't exactly scathing of Putin.

A very logical response would be to ban BBC in China and kick out these fake news peddlers.
1. The BBC is already largely banned in China, especially the Chinese language website that would be of most use to Chinese citizens. I know that it was at one time possible to watch BBC World in China, but stories critical of the Chinese government regularly got censored by the Chinese censors.

2. Even assuming that BBC World is still visible in China at times, what rules will it suddenly be discovered the BBC was breaking - getting an application form stamped twice instead of the required three times?

China actually have laws against fake news.. you know the stuff BBC pedals, so most MSM don't pass the smell test.

Pardon? That's absolutely not true, you can access it. If you are going to spread your usual bullshit, at least get your facts straight. You sound more and more like the average mouthpieces of western regimes.

Second, it would be cool if you stopped misleading people and uniforming. The truth is that most people in China hate the BBC, and they hate it mainly because they can access it, and see the bullshit it writes about their country. Not surprising tbh. My girlfriend doesn't care about politics and is not overly nationalist, but she can't read the Chinese BBC page because of how much full of shit they are.

Edit: a few months ago BBC wasn't blocked. I just tried it, now it's blocked. Still, when me and my girlfriend used to check it, it was not good
