By Trump's reaction to the story of him demeaning US soldiers, he just gave it away it was true. First thing he does is attack General Kelly, the one guy that can basically can confirm if it was true or not. If it weren't true, he would be the one that could come out and defend Trump and that would be it so why would Trump reflexively attack him? Because the story is true and had to immediately attack the guy he even said was behind the story because he knows Kelly was there to witness it all. General Kelly is another Republican in a long line of Republicans that Democrats thought were going to be their knight in shining armor against Trump but they turn out to be not. When push comes to shove, they're Republicans first. Susan Collins, Robert Mueller, Nicky Haley, Melania Trump, etc... Kelly isn't some moderate. He's backed many of Trump's foreign policies that make the Democrats worry. He's a supporter of Trump controversial policies against immigrants. Kelly made some critical remarks about Trump but that's it and he's been pretty quiet since leaving the White House including now when he could clear the air. Yet nothing... Insulting US soldiers is something you don't do so Trump knows it's bad and acts like he's in panic trying to spin this story. Again if it weren't true, you'd be going to the one that can refute it but Trump instinctively insults him instead.
