I now noticed Three Officers Shot and Killed in Baton Rouge, Mayor Says
Three officers in Baton Rouge were shot and killed in an apparent ambush Sunday morning, the city's mayor told MSNBC, less than two weeks after a fatal police shooting sparked protests in the city.

At least four others were injured in the shooting, Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden said. He said the officers were responding to a call of shots fired when they were gunned down.

The condition of the gunman was not immediately clear, a Louisiana State Police spokesman told NBC News.

Marquis Gibson, an eyewitness, was at the Hammond Aire Plaza mall when he heard shots and ran inside. "Officers were falling down and hiding," he told NBC News.

A reporter with the Associated Press who was at the scene saw police vehicles with lights flashing massed about a half mile from the police headquarters on Airline Highway. Police armed with long guns on the road stopped at least two vehicles driving away from the scene and checked their trunks and vehicles before allowing them to drive away, the reporter said.

Baton Rouge has been roiled by protests since white officers shot and killed Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man, on July 5. Four people were arrested last week in an

One of the very first things ANY coup does is to try and capture the leader of the current government or at least die trying. This coup was so disorganized, does not seem to have any organizational objectives it appears very staged to me. This is the Turkish armed forces we're talking about.. Not some rag tag disorganized guerrilla group. These are organized NATO trained forces and all they were able to do was roll some tanks into the Bosphorus bridge and flew a couple of choppers then quietly lay down their arms because of a few cops?

heck from what I heard Erdogan was on a vacation when things went down in Istanbul and Ankara! Then he supposedly flew back as it was all going down and 'saved' the say!!

Tell me that wasn't a false flag!

.. And as I have predicted many thousands of anti Erdogan and pro democracy segments of the population will now be captured, jailed, killed as a direct result of this made up event to purge more of Turkish moderates and secular leaders like a couple of military grass and judges still remaining.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of the people.

The history is full of example of such actions, if it works it's brilliant, if it doesn't work it' stupidity.

oh it's more complex: would you consider von Kluge and Rommel "stupid"? still they didn't succeed against Mr. Hitla, did they?
(but I would agree if they had succeeded, and had achieved an armistice with the Allies signed in 1944, they would've been considered "brilliant" ... as this bunch by now would've been cheered for "saving Turkish democracy" or something:

  1. I'll just translate parts of the blog, and
  2. I have to be quick (it's my lunch break)
so don't blame me, will you?):

On Friday at dusk (videos available inside the blog quoted above: I haven't watched them all yet), three choppers landed in Marmaris

and 25 Special Forces were inserted, to apprehend or ... Mr. Erdogan, who apparently had been tipped, and left the hotel shortly before; those 25 then engaged the security forces (killing two), and disappeared in the forests, where they are being sought by numerous soldiers (pictures available inside the blog quoted above) ... (may take a long time to find them LOL! anyway (at least one of their) pilots got caught).
Mr. Erdogan then flew out of Marmaris, escorted by two F-16s; at one point his plane was like circling around ... and it was decided to land in Istanbul; now I'll fast-forward to the list of highly-ranked officers busted so far:

Going back to that night ... while taking over the Turkish Army Headquarters (in Ankara), rebels arrested the Commander of Land Forces (General Salih Zeki Çolak if I'm not mistaken:

and numerous members of his staff resisted; he was flown in a helicopter, together with for example

One thing is for certain.. Erdogan will be come even more powerful as a result of this failed coup. Now whether that was planned by him or his backers or it backfired on a different entity remains to be seen but there is no doubt he has become even more powerful than ever before and is now able to fully consolidate his powers.

Turkey has always been a check and balance type society between the mainly secular military and the civilian government but it appears now that line is severely blurred and the ruling politicians are now running the military as well especially once all the pro erdogan commanders and justices are put into new positions across the entire armed forces and judicial system of Turkey to replace those purged.

This has all the hallmarks of an Islamic authoritarian type government soon to be evolved into in the not so distant future like most mid east countries you see today. I just feel really bad and sorry for the large population of Turkish moderates who are mainly secular.

Don't forget that more than halve the voters supported AKP and that there are less moderate Islamists in Turkey. Being an atheist myself ......
The original attraction of AKP was its attention tointerests of the small businessmen in the country, its "no problems with our neighbours" policy and the large amounts of money invested by Gulf countries, especially KSA, which let the Turkish economy grow very fast. The recent policy of problems with nearly all neighbours did an immense amount of damage but Erdogan's correction, apologizing to Russia and apparently reducing involvement in Syria, probably let to this coup, even while it was balanced by a resumption of relations with Israel.

I rest my case... I would ask for a gold star if this wasn't so damn serious and it's potentially adverse repercussions to the world!

Yes, it seems like that boy (17 years old) who ran amok in German train near Wurzburg was... an immigrant from Afghanistan.

It's not 100% certain but most likely from what I gathered.
