That’s just communist propaganda. Your utility bills increasing is fake news. It’s a pre-payment for future price increases every month.

They’re charging it because of the activist group of mostly little old ladies, CODEPINK, is behind a lot of anti-data center protests. Maybe because they go around a lot chanting “China is not our enemy!” They’ve been accused of being a subversive group of China. They’ve even protested at Nancy Pelosi’s house over Gaza where she’s seen on video as she’s leaving her house of being spies for China. The AI fight is not actually between the US vs. China. It’s Israel vs. China.

Look at Palantir who brags that Israel uses them in warfare. If the war with Iran is any indication of their prowess, that’s why “American” AI is a big waste of money. Israel thought it decimated Hezbollah yet they seem to be alive and kicking in their invasion of southern Lebanon. And the US is being embarrassed by Iran.

You’re seeing now tech pundits going back to saying China is years behind the US on AI. If that’s true why are they in a panic over Chinese competition? I keep coming across articles that say OpenAI is looking for the US to bail to them out. Then you have that report saying Western companies that are employing AI… 80% are using open source Chinese models. That’s means all the leading US/Western AI models have to fight over that measly 20%.

Great Britain has more data centers than China and yet where is their AI model that no one has ever heard of. Just proves how Western measures of things are misplaced.

They are deindustrializing as a way to apologize for WWII.

when you screw up at work so badly, they decide to axe your entire department.
She's an American appointed viceroy, she doesn't speak her own mind, she just doesn't speak for Europe because her job is to control the vassal, not represent it. A nobody from a tiny state with no influence outside her position is exactly who you want as a viceroy, you don't want someone who can actually be influenced by vassal subjects.

It's perfectly normal for vassals to resent the viceroy, but if the vassals can actually do anything about it they wouldn't have someone like her appointed into power to begin with.

And frankly Europe doesn't deserve independence anyway, they should be a vassal and they should self destruct.

June 12 (Reuters) - SpaceX jumped 23% in its Nasdaq debut on Friday, as investors piled in to the world's largest IPO and bet on Elon Musk's sprawling empire spanning rockets, internet service and AI.

The stock was last trading at $166 a share after opening for trading at $150, making SpaceX the sixth-largest U.S. company, with a market value above $2 trillion.

The company's debut is widely viewed as a dress rehearsal for a new generation of mega-listings, with market participants watching for signals on investor appetite ahead of forthcoming IPOs for AI heavyweights Anthropic and OpenAI.
lol the market value of spacex is now apparently 2 trillion dollars. American economy is looking really healthy:D

I'm not sure the whole "everything that's popular with the people is backed by China and opposed by the ruling class" narrative is going to work out for them the way they think it will.

Spacex has significantly better prospects than the likes of anthropic and openai with 1 trillion valuation when chinese ai is literally free and open.

US stock market has been the biggest bubble in a century and every company is pretty much a ponzy scheme right now when it comes to valuation.
