Frankly, didn’t China already go through this…? They act there’s been a cold going on dozens of years. The European line of leaders going to China seems to have been constant the last decade and yet they act like it’s some detente or rapprochement. Von Der Leyon, Baerboch, Kallas, etc… have consistently been anti-China so what do they have to offer? If they don’t need China, no need to go to China.
Like I’ve been saying, they went along with Trump 1.0 during his first term. They probably could’ve stopped Trump by not going along and instead defending the world despite how they didn’t like him. But they instead capitulated and probably made him think how right he is. The Democrats under Biden did the same thing when he just perpetuated Trump’s policies.
I haven’t heard anything that Europe is offering for China except how it has to restrict itself like it was China begging to them with hat in hand. They talk like they’re looking out for the “middle powers” more than just themselves. Who else are they including besides themselves? The BRICS countries that are already reaping from China decoupling with the West? What countries are that stupid to think they won’t use economics as a weapon against them like the US has done? They want everyone else under their big ugly tent when China is the only option for world to have protection from Western sanctions.
Yeah they’re trying to separate China from BRICS by lumping China in with Trump’s America. China ain’t ordering the world who they can do business with nor telling them who they can or cannot sell their resources to.
When Trump started his whole tiff with Canada, what more of an advantageous time for Western “middle power” countries to band together. They didn’t. It just shows you that’s not enough for them to count. The Western alliance is just a bunch of countries that had nothing of value at home hence why they’re all just a collection of historic invaders where that way they maybe able to get something out of the world of riches none of them have. Yeah they just can’t say the West minus the US because what has changed? They have to use the new term “middle powers” because they need to have BRICS countries minus China and Russia to join them to have the strategic resources they need in order to be something in this new world. That’s why they lump China in with the US. They’re second bananas. The difference from the West is China pays the price for resources the West never did. What do Western middle powers expect? Free or discounted resources they need for themselves and control of what others can or cannot do with their own resources. They want to do everything the US does but for their own interests.
