Smart on the surface maybe but not smart enough to know when to stop being evil in broad daylight light, that to me is the height of stupidity and also, if these leaks end up causing a civil war in the USA and then the complete collapse due to the nation being ungovernable after all is said then done, who in earth will they turn to for protection given that the USA protected Israel at their own expense from practically the whole world with its sanctions, vetoes and what not. Sounds to me they want to burn down the USA for not willingly jumping off the cliff to serve as their cannon fodder at a time when the USA cannot afford to do so indefinitely give that the critically low on all the resources required to continue as such. They are not smart, they are actually dumb as all hell. That is assuming we've actually achieved MAD, and even so, it's a very bad deal. Firstly, China has many less nukes than the US and nuking them to a draw is uncertain, although that is changing. Secondly, even after we have MAD, China has many more people than the US; losing 800M to kill 250M isn't exactly what we want, is it? Lastly, China is rising and the US is waning; going down together is a very bad trade for us. When China has more nukes than the US, their whole mindset changes and MAD sinks in; they realize they don't want to go that route against a superior nuclear power.
