I think Trump might know something we don’t — either the economy is about to blow up or he doesn’t have much longer to live. If he can’t live, us mere mortals can’t live either. Maybe nuclear annihilation is the ticket to heaven in his mind…
Trump doesn’t believe he’ll be going to heaven:

All the more reason why the CPC mandates that all of its top officials are committed atheists. We don’t need to replay “The Dead Zone” with Christopher Walken.

As a corollary to Trump’s panicking and button mashing in the White House, the Indians are also panicking not just due to trump tariffs but also because their scheme to export their useless mouths and feet to other nations is coming undone, America doesn’t want them and Australia is rejecting Indians after the degree scam came to light.

While I think there will inevitably be more pushback from Japan, I actually think the core driving factor for this is disaster preparation for her now. If she is just looking for a mandate for further escalation, she should have been talking and acting tough all this time to build momentum for herself. Instead she’s basically been AWOL with essentially no major public appearances or policy announcements.

That sounds to me like she is in full panic stations now that the full magnitude of how badly she fucked up is becoming clear. She is starring down the literal abyss right now and thinking of ways to survive what is to come.

Calling snap elections before a major precipice is actually a commonly used political trick in western style countries for incumbent governments to cling to power longer, where populist leaders seek to cash in on the brief polls jump they gained from a rash but bold move before the consequences become fully manifest. The reasoning is obvious, as the crisis unfolds, calls for them to go will inevitably grow, and at that point calling a snap election would be pointless as the people would realise what the consequences and costs of your earlier self serving actions were and will absolutely not back you with a fresh mandate.

This is the equivalent of a husband (or more accurately wife in this case) who just blew their annual salary on ridiculously priced bottle of wine on a night out realising how badly they fucked up when the bill came and asked her partner if they had a good time and if it was worth it before telling them what the financial damage is. Only the husband drunkenly replying that it was ‘totally worth it’ before seeing the bill doesn’t really mean much in the morning, but in this case Takaichi will have a fresh new mandate and be safe in power for years to come.
So their only response thus far is to call it quits to evade responsibility. How typical.

That was Lettuce lady Truss who at least had the decency to resign before being ousted.

Takaichi isn’t calling it quits, quite the contrary, she is trying to cling to power by conning the Japanese public into granting her a mandate for her actions retroactively, but before the actual costs of those actions comes to light.

To be honest, it’s pretty much too late for Japan to unring that bell now, and they will face the coming economic and industrial tsunami no matter if Takaichi stays or goes at this point.

To be frank, I see Takaichi as extremely similar to Trump as a real once in a hundred years rare gift to China.

The geopolitical reality is that this clash with Japan was almost inevitable. Japan was inevitably going to involve itself in any Taiwan scenario, and may even be the tail that wags a reluctant America in as well.

From China’s POV, they have always been preparing for the eventuality of having to fight Japan and America together in order to reclaim Taiwan. Takaichi merely handed China the justification for on a silver platter with a nice bow on top.

What more, she has chosen the worst time to provoke China with the most unpredictable and cowardly President ever, so there is a genuine risk that America will TACO when China makes its move and leave Japan flapping alone in the breeze.

This is a great illustration on how the popular western spread impression that China’s decision making process is bureaucratic and ponderous is actually yet another massive misconception at best and total invention most likely. China can make extremely quick decisions of fundamental strategic importance when it wants to and when warranted. It’s just that China is patient and disciplined enough to not deviate from its main plan the overwhelmingly majority of times.

In a sense, this makes perfect sense because China keeps its house in order and its focus on the big picture. It does not make a move unless it has to or unless the true prize shows itself. And it’s discipline and focus allows it to take the prized kill when lady luck finally smiles.

It’s like two hunters in the forest. One overreacts to everything. There is a rustle in the trees, he needs to immediately go check it out. A squirrel runs across a path and he has to take a shot at it, all the while loudly narrating his every move and even thought process and trash talking other hunters.

The other hunter reads the land and tracks and stalks his prey quietly, slowly and methodically. He isn’t tempted when rabbits and ducks present themselves. But as soon as his true quarry shows himself, he makes a quick but thorough calculation on what his odds are. If the distance is too far or winds too strong, he will hold off even if the prey is out in the open almost begging to be shot. But when the conditions are right, he can take a quick but deadly accurate shot even if the prey only briefly showed part of his back to get the perfect kill shot. And as the loud mouth hunter lay breathing his last with a heart shot, the last thing he will see is the muzzle of a rifle as the true hunter puts another round in his skull to make sure.
