When the West talks about freedom, they're only talking about theirs. They just don't say that out loud because they know people are going to see it for what it truly is. The West complaining about China's rare earth restrictions is all about a violation of their freedom to do anything they want. They have a right to free access to China's rare earths when it follows exactly the West's semiconductor restrictions on China. That's why it's a joke when Westerners claim they care about labor violations in non-Western countries. First of all outsourcing is all about the West exploiting that "slave labor" for themselves. But there use to be a time they didn't care to the point they loved the idea of how many people had to toil away under less than ideal conditions just to put a shirt on their back. Just like white women use falsely claim they were assaulted by a non-white knowing her white man would have a violent reaction. It was even a way where it was a measurement of their own sense of value on how much death and destruction took place because of it. US history has many cases where civil violence resulted from a white woman falsely reporting some infraction upon them. Do you really trust the words of a people who are disconnected to those things especially if they could, they would take China's rare earths for free despite what conditions are taken to make them cheaper than the West could do themselves. They want free abundant access right now despite how that is a fact here.
The whole Nexperia thing confused me at first because how could the Dutch take over a Chinese owned business to their own benefit and especially against China's? Did China produce these chips in the Netherlands therefore China had no say in it except to complain? It was because the Dutch were actually that Trump level of stupid. They thought they if they could takeover Nexperia's HQ in the Netherlands that somehow meant they could control production and distribution of those chips from China as well. Did they have that much faith on the Western rule of law that Nexperia's Chinese entities had to do what they say? Are they going to cry that China is violating the rule of law by going against the orders of the Dutch who stole it from a Chinese owner? Apparently yes. Any other country that did that to a Western country would be unacceptable and they would all act in concert against that country. Look at the whole reason why the West hates Venezuela. Hugo Chavez nationalized Western assets exploiting their oil industry. They can do it for their national security interests but no one can use that excuse against them. And the West expects the world to follow their rules that go out of their way to favor them first...?
Why does this happen where the West thinks they can make an exception for themselves from their own very logic? Because the world including China let's them get away with it. It's called "normalization". Because they've been doing it "normally" and no one is complaining, anyone trying to change it now is in the wrong to them. China's rare earth restrictions are the first time that any Western country has been told to and expected to follow by someone(not Western) else's rules and they're going apeshit over it. And look how it's about something that's not theirs in the first place just as Nexperia. See how the West has not left their colonialist imperialist mindset. This is not a new era where the West cares about others unless it allows them to hate like they've always had. They're not going to change until they suffer the consequences.
The simplest solution... stop worshipping the West. The only reason why the West still has stature in this world is because despite their history of horror upon humanity, people look at upon them as an authority simply because they have the power and the money. People want that for themselves. The West appeals to basic human selfishness which makes it easy to find people like that. Especially for the Chinese, they should be working to destroy their image and reputation just as the West is doing to the Chinese. With the West's record, it's not that hard unless you're one of the weak-minded Chinese needing their affirmation because they're an "authority" to make you more than others and especially against other Chinese. The Japanese and South Koreans can say and think they're better than Chinese because the US likes them more because the Chinese value and want that affirmation from the US and the West for themselves too. The reason why people want something so valueless is so they can tell others how better they are than them and that's it. And these people are the same ones that argue for the Western version of "soft power"... two things that are actually worthless if you think about it.
