If they genuinely tried creating something now, with the social, economic and demographic environment at home, they would probably come up with their own version of the river elegy documentary.
I recall several years ago, there was a movie about the bleak decline and collapse of american prosperity that received critical acclaim (won a golden globe?), and incidentally had the first asian director to win that award.

Wasn't the Tempest 5th Gen? Before the J-36 and "J-50", the only country you could associate coming out with a 6th Gen was the US. Ironic because this video makes no mention of China and why any country talks about developing a 5th Gen without saying it's because of China is unheard of. Now all of the sudden it's a 6th Gen. I guess it makes it a little easier admitting it's too much for them hence why it's going to be "cancelled" at best. I mean how embarrassing for a country better than China who can't even come out with a 5th Gen let alone a 6th Gen. And if it were China that came out with a fighter that didn't have internal weapons bays, they wouldn't dare call it a 5th Gen. Mention the K-21 when by their own labelling, it's not a 5th Gen.
Deep down the decision makers understand the superiority of the Chinese state owned MIC. After a 50 million dollar Chinese jet shot down three 280 million dollar European jets at record range with no loss, Trump was so impressed that he is make Lockheed Martin partially state owned so they can replicate the success.
Zhou Enlai said Nehru was the most arrogant person he ever came across. Keep in mind Zhou has met countless leaders including those from nations who are actively hostile and flat out said they would like to see him dead. And yet he found those guys more tolerable than Nehru who kept bragging how he would destroy China if it didn't do what he said. Zhou generally is supposed to be the more diplomatic dove in China compared to other hawkish leaders and he still supported China should go to war with India.
This was over 60 years ago. There was no BJP and yet India was already like that. The BJP are just more honest on their intentions and we should be thanking Modi ji for that before its too late. Honestly when you think about it, people claim the BJP are right wing nazis but its was under congress that a lot of territory was annexed while claiming to be non aligned.
I wouldn't be surprised if the US knew and gave its blessing in the go ahead to India. The US is Dana White and India was supposed to be his new MMA prospect where White gave him an easy Pakistan opponent with a poor record, home crowd, biased referee and basically every advantage to win on the big stage. And then he got knocked out by his opponent in just one round viciously. Imagine how mad White would be after all that investment. Thats probably how the US feels after investing so much in India to be its new prospect to take on China.
Funny enough in real life Dana White is a long term Trump supporter and you can see him in many meetings with Trump publicly so he unironically does have sway in the government.
