If I were Vietnamese, I surely wouldn't be sure of that. The world is no longer moving in a liberal direction; if anything, it is moving in the opposite direction, and empires & conquests may once again become the order of the day.
Conquering territories isn't worth the trouble anymore. What is the point of incorporating 100M of angry Vietnamese that hate you? China wants to reunite with Taiwan Island because of it was ripped away by Japan so she is willing to pay the cost.

I use the term Asia Pacific (APAC) when referring to the Asia. Banks do this. Sports do this. Its used a lot when you want to see the Asian part of something.

But if you work for US think tanks or are involved in that area, you may have noticed they are trying to push the phrase "Indo Pacific" to replace APAC. I personally haven't seen it used much but again it depends where you are.

As you can see already, this term is supposed to subtly move the center to India and take away APAC where we see China being the center. The US is always playing this slimey ass games trying to manipulate words without telling you. No wonder so many Indians shill for this term .The emphasis on the neologism “Indo Pacific,” launched by Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and enthusiastically endorsed by President Donald Trump, appeared to be new, despite its interesting though distant past.

Some people are not aware of this so I'm letting you guys know. Because you will see the west try to use this term more.

But terms don't mean crap. Build back better, blue dot network, QUAD etc. All these terms went nowhere. The world isn't determined by the west anymore.

India doesn't even touch the Pacific Ocean. From now on, Sino-Atlantic should be pushed.

Reminds me of a possibly apocryphal anecdote about a knock off shoe factory in Putian, Fujian that wanted to imitate a new variety of Air Jordan that’s highly anticipated by basketball shoe enthusiasts. What they found difficult to replicate was the special “air spring” supposedly used in the heel of the new shoes, and they spent a lot of effort and RnD money engineering their own solution because they didn’t know how Nike does it. It was only after the Air Jordan line launched that they found out the whole thing was a scam and that Nike put some cardboard in the heels for padding.
Too silly, most likely apocryphal as you said
Jordan line is so old from the 80's. Same with the whole Nike Air branding/line. Any company in China would be too poor to really put money into R&D for something like luxury basketball shoes back then.

If we are talking about later on, then you can just cut the shoe in half like Stephon Marbury did to prove his $15 USD shoe was similar in quality to a $100+ Nike. The basketball shoe of the people, I guess that's why China loved him, lol.

Well I’ve talked about this before but the Asian respect for authority no matter what is why it’ll take the collapse of the US in order for a country like China to be respected by other Asians. When Japan was seen as strong back in the 80s all Asians hated them. The US/West is the ideal counter to all the Asian nationalism that exists. All Asians hate the other so naturally they’re going to gravitate towards an outsider that has power over most.

The fact is when China is the one with the money and power and no one else, that’s when you’ll see them show respect. The problem with Chinese is they also see the US as an authority which tells everyone that the US is legitimately an authority to be respected. What do I mean? If anyone Chinese spoke the way Americans do with rudeness and disrespect for others, it would be frowned upon by other Chinese but those very Chinese don’t have a problem when Americans do it. If it’s bad for Chinese to do what Americans do but not the other way around, that’s because Americans are seen as a higher authority.

All any other Asian has to do is suck up to the US to get them to be liked more and that’s how Asians think how it works. If the Chinese perpetuates that system, don’t ever think you are to be respected.

Because only China can cause existential threat level to Vietnamese culture, US can only cause government threat level. Vietnamese indeed is mainly a group of 百越 people, escape from South China and local people to avoid to sinicize completely and fight for it more than 1000 years, to compare with 30 years to resistance against America is too short. Not the same level at all. Of course our history textbook make very clear about this.

Summary:
粵: Let’s just be Chinese…
越: No

The neocon/neolib regime establishment does the same thing to Russia. They describe shipping that is not insured via the Anglo Lloyd company as ships of the "shadow fleet". "Shadow fleet" is just another propaganda term to make these vessels and their activities sound clandestine and illegal. These ships are not illegal and operate , for the most part within international laws and agreements. Another notorious propaganda term is the "Warsaw Pact". There was never such a thing as the "Warsaw Pact". This propaganda term refers to the Warsaw Treaty Organization. These shameless liars and regime propagandists now do the same thing with China with the propaganda term "Indo-Pacific". I refuse to use this propaganda term in my conversations. F**k these neocons/neolib (neofascist) scumbags. Sorry but i just do not like these smooth talking hypocritical lying sacks of ****.
