How feasible is it? If the US enforces a total blockade on US related things with all the major countries involved in semiconductors via trade agreements. Then the subsidiaries will have to use 100% alternatives to remain compliant with the restrictions.

Except the government will prioritized domestic equipment for domestic Chinese companies. As they aren’t going to prop up South Korean companies when Chinese companies are more important. More likely scenario may be South Korea selling off all their Chinese fabs.

Look at this way, is there any downside if we sell some semi equipment to SK company in China? just look at the PR it generates PLUS an additional major FAB company validating your equipment, it will create a technical loop of feedback that is very beneficial to the entire Chinese semiconductor industries.

But does the capacity exist? If the China hawks can successfully ramp through their blockade via trade agreements. Then those ASML lithography cannot be used anymore by South Korea in those subsidiaries unlike banned Chinese companies who can continue via 3rd parties maintenance. With SMEE limited lithography production and slow ramp up. Why should the government prioritized the survival of South Korean fabs in China over the ramp up of Chinese fabs?

SMEE is an integrator, as had been discussed in the Semiconductor thread, all the major components provider had finished their expansion plan. 2025 is the year of mass adoption while 2023 is the inflection point as the testing and validation had finished their development.

At this point, the BBC has less value then a limp noodle given right now’s current predicament. Maybe the UK should stop antagonizing everyone and focus on itself unless they want to eventually be blasted for not shutting up once’s it’s sugar daddy breaks itself given Trumps current madness

It is more along the lines of if the US will allow the operations to continue. Because if they deem South Korea violating their agreement (if it happens) by the continuous use of ASML machines. The Trump Admin isn’t going to shy away from using severe economic coercion on South Korea.

Their words are basically, Your either with or against us.
Lutnick added that the Trump administration plans to try to bring export controls into trade deals "so that countries decide are they aligned with America and freedom and liberty and the Western way of life, or are they so hooked to making a little more money or buying something a little more cheaply that they would sell their soul, because that's what you're doing, you'd be selling your soul to those who seek us harm."

I find it hard to believe SMEE can produce enough lithography machines to supply 5 South Korea manufacturing plants in China without jeopardizing the expansion and demand of domestic Chinese fabs.

Does this characterisation accurately reflect the broader Canadian attitudes towards India in political or media circles?
