De facto means recognition.
But that is not what de facto means.

Cambridge Dictionary definition of "de facto":

"existing in fact, although perhaps not intended, legal, or accepted"

Merriam Webster definition of "de facto":

"actual
especially : being such in effect though not formally recognized "

"exercising power as if legally constituted"

De jure KMT claims to be the legitimate government of China, de facto they're some collaborator traitors hiding under a flimsy ceasefire, while every day working towards threatening the country with any underhanded means.
There is no such thing as establishing a country inside someone else's country and then making your whole identity about one day couping them, making up cosplay ministries in the name of the legit government and falsely passing their authority as speaking for the host nation.

This isn't a country, it's the camp of an invasion army. Exactly like what was going on in Idlib.

No, de facto Taiwan is pretty much an independent country. They fulfill all four criteria for statehood laid down by Montevideo Convention. Additionally, they have their own military, currency and authorities, they host foreign delegations, have de facto embassies on their soil disguised as cultural offices, host US troops on their soil without China's consent etc.

Taiwan is much more comparable to Somaliland, Kosovo, and Transistria than either Palestine or HTS/Idlib.

De iure Taiwan is still Chinese province, though, and it is China's responsibility to make sure that Taiwan's factual status matches its legal one.
If you're going to argue force makes reality then you really should make sure you have the force first.
