The Australian Strategic Policy Institute is
with Trump/Musk's moves against USAID resulting in a freeze in funding for many China-focused NGOs.
Curiously, the reason given for this is not because understanding China is a prerequisite for successfully navigating the 21st century, but because freezing USAID funding for China NGOs will -- allow me to paraphrase the author slightly -- prevent us from learning and rebroadcasting just how much China sucks and how much better
white people capitalism democracy is by comparison and therefore allowing us to take home Gold in the ideological Olympics.
Of course it is entirely to be expected that an Australian think tank that is funded both directly and indirectly by the US government (directly by the US State Department and indirectly by organs of the US MIC) would be nervous about recent moves in Washington related to the funding of foreign entities. But still, it's an unusually frank admission of ASPI's objectives and basic mindset.
