ASEAN countries slightly preferring China to US can be explained by Indonesia and Malaysia, 2 Muslim countries developing a negative perception of US due to its funding and backing of Israel in the Gaza war.

While Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines remain anti-china.

However, its still a very positive development for China as geopolitically, Indonesia and Malaysia are the 2 most important countries in ASEAN.

Indonesia especially with its $1 trillion economy that's growing at a rate of 5-6% will be a major regional player in the future, so it's best for china to push for friendly ties.

why you think US automotive industry not competitive?. Just because Europe cannot afford those vehicles does not mean they are not competitive. look at large capacity engines, Body on frame and 4Wheel drives systems (Borg Warner) and cars that pull very high Gs, development of tire and brake technologies. There is little statistical reliability difference between Japanese made in Japan and those in North America when you look at over long term (not that disposable German). Airbus Cannot exist without American technology just like many other things you have to look at things closely.

This is the reason India now has a policy of exporting their mouths with feet to anywhere but India. They need to export as many ppl as they can otherwise it’ll lead to riots, revolt and revolution if the Indians find enough energy to actually get around to overthrowing anything other than cowardly trying to infiltrate wealthier nations as an underclass of loquacious scammers.

China potentially can offer a better and more diversified (if only because China is vastly larger) experience than Japan with more moderate prices which is important for lower to middle income economies like in ASEAN but right now it is "harder" to travel compared to Japan. There're primarily three reasons:
1) You need to have a good VPN (which can still fail from time to time) or an expensive roaming plan to access popular apps like Instagram, YouTube, etc. This already creates a layer of complexity for non-tech savvy people.
2) A lot of Chinese apps are Mandarin-only and for some of them you really don't have a global alternative - e.g. Google Maps and open source map apps are simply too outdated compared to Baidu/Amap, the only viable English-friendly alternative is Apple Maps (cuz it uses GaoDe/Amap data) which is iOS only. This makes navigation inside cities more complicated because you either have to stumble around using outdated maps or constantly take screenshots and check with a translator app to understand Baidu/GaoDe. Even when the app has English interface, like WeChat, most of the times you still cannot simply create an account and bind your number - you have to get verified by an existing user to activate your account and get access to all functions or get a proper Mainland China number (tourist SIM cards sold at airports are often re-cycled so you can run into a problem of your phone number already being registered).
3) Even in hotels under international chains there is a lack of English-speaking personnel, especially when you move away from Tier 1 cities. But honestly, Japan is not doing much better on that front.

Forescout saw an increase from 10,000 China-made devices to 20,000 in the UK over the past year. An increase of 37% was seen in Australia and an increase of 67% was observed in Singapore. A drop of 14% has been seen in Canada, and a drop of 25% was seen in Germany over the past year.

Are Singaporean Chinese people anti-China in general? I have seen Singaporeans parrot Western lies such as the "Uyghur genocide" and it baffles me. Even pro-independence Taiwanese people are not that shameless. I don't know a lot of Singaporean people, so I don't know if the few I have met are representative of the people there.

Don't forget the commercial drones sector. DJI alone dominates something like 80% of the market.

This Forbes article presented the top 9 drones of 2024, out of which 6 are Chinese DJI, 2 are Exo which was formerly Chinese, and 1 is Hover made by Chinese-Americans.

HSR was probably a watershed event in Indonesia that not only showcased high quality Chinese manufacturing but is also a source of national pride for Indonesians as well.
