Some people seem to think such a tank can still be easily recovered and is just a "mission kill". The thing is if you detonate the ammo rack in the M1 the vehicle will have to go back to the factory to see if anything can be recovered from it, at the very least you will have to take the turret of the tank out and likely replace it with a new one. This isn't something you do in the field.
The ammo rack is also awfully exposed to FPV or Lancet drone attacks.

But also, how on earth can Ukraine even think of repair such a tank in the first place when they lack the tools, capability and factory to do so (if the Russians haven’t already blown it up). At least for Russia, they have the tools and expertise and more importantly is close enough to Russia to ship it off for repairs, what does Ukraine have right now

The crazy thing about the western hate on China, is that there is no legitimate grievance for the west to have against China ie China never colonised the west, never enslaved them, never forced opium on them, and to date, have yet to use gunboat diplomacy, Admiral Perry style.

If you're referring to me -- and I think you are -- I wrote that if an Abrams's blow-out panels work properly, the damage will be *relatively* easy to repair. (Also assuming the interior bustle door is closed when the ammo combusts.) I didn't mean it'll simply buff out. But the tank will certainly be easier to repair than one whose entire fighting compartment has been exposed to an ammo cook-off, let alone one that's thrown its turret.

It was easy to fix until they followed up with an ATGM and set the turret on fire… I don’t think that FPV alone would’ve caused a cookoff.

The Lancet has a warhead of roughly the same size as an ATGM. An FPV drone is more like an RPG-7. But even an RPG-7 at close quarters in a poorly protected area like the turret bustle will be enough to penetrate it and ignite all the ammunition in it.

I think you are referring to Irgun or to the Stern Gang that carried out many terrorist attacks in Europe through 1930s and 1940s.
