It is like every day, I feel like more fresh off the boat than the day before.
Black Myth Wukong is easily a 9.5/10 game. Chinese reviewers gave it 10/10. "Less-political' Western reviewers gave it 8/10 for the bugs, and the lack of background explanation of the lore. Sl 8/10 in the West could not get it "universal acclaim" there.Black Myth Wukong promotes tourism in China.
The Taiwanese regime promotes reunification.
When some Western media start to attack you, you know you have succeeded.
When a female Chinese diaspora writer denounces you, you know your success has become legendary.

Ok they can criticize the bugs. But it is not fair to criticize the "lack of lore background". Reuters even said that the game expects gamers to go and study Chinese literature. This game as based on Journey To The West for f**k's sake. Obviously most Westerners don't understand the story like the Chinese do, but that is no excuse to not go read it up first instead of bashing the game. They easily gave God Of War Ragnarok 9.5/10, because Norse Mythology was more familiar to them
I'm guessing it's more because of Marvel, than the actual lore. GOWR too didn't explain the full lore, they just expected the gamers to already know the familiar characters. Westerners praised that game for promoting Nordic culture. Black Myth Wukong does the same with Chinese culture and so much more. They expect to be spoon-fed about Chinese culture, but expect the rest of the world to already know their culture. It's plain old Western double standards, and honestly, racism.
I've watched a number of walkthroughs of Black Myth Wukong. The game is just beautiful, even though it took it's own artistic liberties with the lore. It is overflowing with Chinese culture, art, and literature. Best enjoyed with the original Chinese language, but the English dub is quite well done too. (I've noticed that the Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese streamers stuck to the original Chinese language, with subtitles for their own respective languages.) There were locations in the game that looked too fantastical to be in real life, but they do have real-life counterparts. The in-game artworks and anime is just amazing. All non-Chinese gamers were surprised by the level of detail and appreciation for the culture. I dare say it even exceeds the God of War Ragnarok for cultural appreciation. BTW GOWR had black people play the role of the Norse Giants, to check some diversity boxes. So that is a minus for cultural appreciation.
I'm pleasantly surprised that China could create a game on the quality, scope and scale of Black Myth Wukong. It easily stands up with the best games from the West and Japan. Those who still doubt that China lacks soft power should check their bias and sanity. The game resonates with the Japanese and Koreans. It impressed the Western gamers, and made them appreciate Chinese culture even more. This game announces yet another of China's return to the big leagues of soft power.
Nobel Prize and Pulitzer are two of the famous western prizes that reward neoliberal imperialismThis is why we should not let stuff like Nobel prizes or other stuff determined by the west be a measure of achievement.
Everyone talks like they are objective when they clearly have a conflict of interest. Especially when countries like Sweden decide it. There is no way they can be objective.
That's because China isn't doing anything that justifies direct action against China. Their attention will always be drawn away to more immediate active emergencies. Acting against China for just for being competition doesn't sit well with the rest of the world that is watching. Today the West is trying to get the Global South on their side and away from China. China is the example of ideal independence from the West. The US and West will knock off opponents because they're losing to them. That's why they have to lie about it being about democracy versus autocracy. They're democracies that had slaves and they protect countries that are democracies that violate human rights. Also they ally with autocracies who they need. They act like holding out democracy is the answer to anyone questioning them. No it just says how they can lie in the face of it.What in the world?? This western yapping Japanese fella is highly disappointed that U.S. attention span against China appears to be waning based on this latest reporting.
Black Myth Wukong is yet another big F-U to all those haters like the Bobalibs, KMT zealots, HK roaches, Serpentza, Peter Zeihan, Jai Hinds, and all those other haters who say that China has no culture.
American censorship, clampdown on dissenters, the disappearances of YouTube vids and interviews remind one of the erasure of dissidents that the Anglo’s loved to condemn the soviets and Stalin for.
im of two minds about this. First of all yes, set up factories in CONUS but make them packaging for finished products and all IP and data to be stored in China but only for full market access to America, NAFTA and its slaves in the five eyes. Americans pulling an India and stealing Chinese factories and kidnapping Chinese executives on trumped up charges is pretty much a given so some form of collateral must be provided by the Americans, such as US Taxpayer funded team of CPC inspectors to check and verify the factories are not transferring IP to the Americans, much as the anglos did with ZTE. The Americans, nay the anglos must understand that they are the supplicant in this relationship.
