Why does China fund the IMF?

Probably believe they can still change the organization from within (i.e. play by the rules). Don't forget that they inherited their seat at the IMF. Apparently, the Republic of China (i.e. Taiwan) was one of the co-founders of the IMF until they got booted and replaced by the PRC back in the 80s. They probably will remain with the IMF until the very end; similar to how Turkey continues to remain in NATO.

Who said that China doesn't like the IMF lol. China basically wants increased voting shares in IMF and to adjust some of its rules to better suit it's national interests.

Make no mistake though, China likes the IMF quite a lot because, as the US does now, it can throw a lot of the dirty work to IMF to do instead

The IMF and World Bank is a branch of the UN. Even though it is an arm of western hegemony. Defunding or leaving it isn’t exactly ideal when practically 99% of the world is inside it by default of being a UN member.

Also everyone in the IMF would have access to economic politics from every other member state.

There are 24 Executive Directors, eight representing individual countries – China, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States – and 16 representing groups of the remaining countries.
  • Access to information on economic policies of all member countries
