Because it wouldn't serve their best interest. By your logic, the US the is best and why doesn't everyone align with the US? Because they have separate interests. Why doesn't the world just follow US diktat and support Israel?!?

What is Vietnam’s strategic interest. Why hasn’t it fully aligned with China already. By most logic, China is the bigger neighbor, communist brother in arms, better economy, more powerful military.

Our Chinese beat their Chinese?

Is the lone white guy of Russian descent?
Apparently the Chinese girl on the Chinese team fumbled one of the problems but no matter, the evidence is clear. Anglo america needs four Chinese for every one indian and every one jewish caucasian to even get on an equal footing with the original Chinese. And given the pogroms against Chinese americans and the discrimination against Chinese and asians in the workplaces, this millenium is Chinese.

A good analysis by Steve Hsu on this:

In summary, the tendency for indians towards caste discrimination and anglos towards feudalism works against them in this new cold war against China. That much should be obvious to all, if white supremacy was not the state religion and philosophy of the west.

Human-powered dishwasher witnessed Shanghainese millionaire abandoning his mansion in Cali and fleeing back to the PRC. When inquired whether he is worried that the Xi regime might confiscate his wealth, the millionaire said that he’d rather his money be used towards the great rejuvenation of the nation than the bombing of Palestinian children.

My background is 华侨, Overseas Chinese so i grew up with an Aussie accent, inflection and speech which definitely helps in accessibility...until they see my Asian face and my Asian name and see me talking to white women. You can make yourself 'useful' or competant which is the bare minimum for any job, but no white person ever had to deal with bamboo ceilings or being targeted simply for being Asian. An Asian man in a workplace is an easy target as a scapegoat or simply a target for being human, and most other workers are just glad that someone else is the target and not them.

It appears in an industry like engineering or technology, worker efficacy and competance is highly relevant as opposed to the greyzone softer skills like finance and insurance; in my experience, fields like engineering and hard science tend to be mainly male dominated so tend to be autistically in favour of meritocracy as opposed to finance which is really just a jobs program for the failsons and faildaughters of dumb kids of the middle-upper white anglo classes.
While I am in engineering / tech, I have seen people I know in finance / consulting who fit the mould you described above rise to high positions (director, head of xxxx, etc).

By 'useful' I mean 'using your company clout / knowledge to grease the wheels to make things happen or so things go smoother', which builds a 'this guy makes things happen that others can't and gets people to do things I / others can't get them to do' reputation.
Do not take a 'let me take this on, and I'll fix it for you in my own time' approach, because this will build a 'here's a guy I can just exploit when I need, he won't complain and is easy to push' reputation. The first approach adds mega points to your rep, the latter will put you in the corporate version of the friendzone.

It also helps to become, at least partly, 'one of the boys' (i.e. able to joke with, speak on a cordial and equal footing when not receiving orders, and able to have a genuinely enjoyable time) with your immediate and adjacent superiors (and their superiors if appropriate) as this really builds trust and an 'I like this guy' recognition. If you view them as adversaries, then that will show through no matter how much you try to hide it.
You still can have excellent interpersonal relationships with individuals, regardless of your views on their society as a whole.

Reason for me saying all of this is that I just wanna see a brother succeed, and if it has been done before it can be done again.

One thing I need to make clear is, if in your heart of hearts you do not want to pursue the leadership route, then do not force it and pursue whatever technical or other endeavor you feel most comfortable with. At the end of the day you need to enjoy the limited time you have available, others' views are ultimately immaterial and unimportant.

This goes without saying. But it's easier said than done. Even if you try to kiss ass or whatever, of the upper guys don't feel comfortable in your presence for reasons you can't control then you get nothing.

For example if they decide they just don't like asian looking faces, it's tough to overcome such prejudice. Maybe for lower roles but once it gets to the upper parts where the pyramid gets smaller then you are out of luck. That's how TSMC started btw.

If it hasn't occurred to you, as a smaller player, aligning fully with one larger player makes you a target, and loses you every bit of leverage you had over the player you aligned with. Having a stick in both pies gets the larger players competing against each other for you. You know, like using a competing offer to make your own sweeter.
Some examples:
- Saudi Arabia
- Philippines under Duterte
- Pre-Morrison Australia wrt US and China
Ironically, despite casting itself as a 'swing state', India has trapped itself under the US, precisely because they aligned themselves too heavily with the US.

They have repeated that they rather be independent, hence they play both sides. They get Chinese factories in Vietnam producing products to be sold to the US. A big win for them. American nationalist thinks vietnam will help the us attack China from the south in a armed reunification scenerio, while Vietnam gets us semiconductor plants and sits it out.
