South Korea had a good run. But they are hitting their limits now due to unconstrained capitalism in a zero sum game world. Maybe if this China didn't exist they would be able to become someone great. But not in this universe and they don't know how to handle it. Was Sikkim a member of United Nation? Did Sikkim have diplomatic relationships with other countries? Sikkim was a protectorate of British Raj that made it a princely state not much different from other pricely states that became part of India or Pakistan.
However, Bhutan is a member of UN and has 53 diplomatic missions in the world. India annexing Bhutan will have to pass the UN first, and I am sure that there will be some Bhutanese who give China the argument to get involved if India makes a try.
Bhutan is on the south side of Himalaya but is mountainous, what advantage does India have to move supplies up the hill than China? Geography didn't make much better for India in 1962, I doubt it will help in the future.
