the USA seems to have a very hard time handling their screw ups given how many of them are coming out of the blue and how Bidens mental capacity is rapidly falling apart at the seams with no one considering the fact that he might just need a doctor right now
I'd say there hasn't been a president in the White House since 2017, aside from China, Trump was more interested in golf than being president and Biden's brains have been melting for quite some time now.

This is why all that soft power and hard power discussions were so time wasting. If one has no hard power, no amount of soft power will make others look up to you.

One needs hard power, technology, economic dominance to have others look up to you then one can use their soft power.

A lot of these Asian countries look down on china since china was so behind for most of their memory. That perception can't change unless china has overwhelmingly strong hard power. Once that happens, and china cango toe to toe with the US without issues, more people will look up to china and take in Chinese soft power.

This goes for other Asians and people from Hong Kong. If china exceeds the US in hard power, many of them will change their tune and be more pro china. Everyone likes a winner.
What good is soft power when you can only use it when you are already strong and powerful.

Kinda make sense why Koreans don't like China now.
These guys already fought the Korean-Indian Galactic War while we were cavemen. Can they leave us alone now?

It gets you from being first among equals to hegemony.

It doesn't help you become first among equals.

There are those sociopaths among us that also asks "Once I am rich, why do I need friends?"
Friends are for people. Countries only have allies dependent on current interests and power dynamic.
Hard power is strictly transactional. Soft power connects people much more deeply and lasting.
Noooooooooooo. Hard power is the one that is deep and lasting; it lasts as long as your hard power! With this command and control, the US literally orders other countries to harm themselves for America's advantage while giving them nothing. There is no transaction; the US issues orders, the henchmen follow them to their own detriment, and then they justify their rolling over to their people by spreading American propaganda to make it look like they're only doing the right thing by following America's and democracy's line. If they don't they are sanctioned and regime-changed by American hard power, and that paves the way for what some people may confuse with soft power to take over when all is stemmed in hard power.

Soft power is nothing. It forms a fragile connection amongst people with the major caveat that they have to hard interest clashes. Once there are clashes in interest, it all goes out the window and hard power determines the outcome. Japan is everybody's favorite pet dog in America under normal circumstances but the instant that the Japanese give some push back against America insisting that they sign unfair trade pacts, Americans immediately revert to, "Time for a third nuke! Gotten put 'em back in their place once every couple o' decades."
