This is by far the greatest achievement of the American political institution: creating a apathetic, disillusioned, disempowered populace that is too divided, too uneducated and too poor to ever rise up and challenge the elites.

Very few people know their politics apart from media sound bites, and even fewer actually vote and participate in civil society.

Politics has become so divisive it has become a forbidden topic in many households, and that has only encouraged even more spreading of ignorance. Neoliberalism and culture wars have brainwashed the US populace so effectively that discussions can no longer take place even inside the family. The filial loyalty and family structure has become a farce, where victims are owned or "belong" to a political narrative and NOT their own kin.

why, China just needs to brutalise the Filipinos the way the Spanish and Americans did, and then they will call China their master. For a yappy dog that screeches how free they are, they seem to jump on the orders of white Americans.
I think it's a waste of time to argue with Filipinos. They have so much work to do before they become a nation that people take seriously. Chinese people constitute less than 2% of the population of the Philippines but they dominate the economy.

North Korea tests ‘underwater nuclear weapon system’

North Korea has carried out a test of a newly developed “underwater nuclear weapon system,”the country’s military said, noting the move was a response to joint military drills by the United States, South Korea and Japan.

A military spokesperson announced the test in a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) early on Friday morning, citing “provocative military exercises” held around the Korean peninsula in recent weeks.

“In response, the Underwater Weapon System Institute under the DPRK Academy of Defence Science conducted an important test of its underwater nuclear weapon system ‘Haeil-5-23’ under development in the East Sea of Korea,” the statement said, adding that the test helped to develop Pyongyong’s “underwater nuke-based countering posture.”

The spokesperson went on to denounce “military gangsters” in Washington, Seoul and Tokyo for “seriously threatening the security of the DPRK,”warning of “catastrophic consequences” should they continue their war games in the region.

Pyongyang carried out several similar tests last year, including a “nuclear unmanned underwater attack boat” in March, which it had previously dubbed a “secret weapon.” Unnamed military officials said the naval drone could create a “radioactive tsunami” using underwater explosions and “annihilate enemy ship groups” without detection.

It was not immediately clear whether the latest trial involved a newer model of the same weapon.

Friday’s test came amid rising tensions between the two Koreas, with Seoul conducting a flurry of live-fire war games alongside Washington over the last year despite repeated warnings from the North. The DPRK has responded with its own shows of force, including numerous weapon tests.

Highlighting the growing hostilities, South Korea announced last week that it would scrap a 2018 security pact with Pyongyang which halted military exercises along the North-South border, citing a recent North Korean artillery drill in the area.

I believe Asia still follows the confucian like model that you know your place and follow whatever the guy in charge says. Because America is the boss, they will do anything to defend it and go against China for disrupting the status quo.

Better hope they side with the right guys then. Otherwise in the future, their descendants will be cursing their ancestors. Korea did this during the Ming/Qing transition. Since they sided with the losing side, their emperor had to go to China and bow down to say sorry in a humiliating recorded event. Netouyo probably secretly curse their ancestors for siding on the wrong team and losing WW2. They fear China will get "equal" with them in the future. Same for the others.

Korea never had an emperor, that will be like trying to portray themselves as equal in status to the Chinese Emperor. Korea always had a king, a lower status position to the Chinese emperor.

This only changed in 1900, when China lost its power and influence. They literally lost to Japan in the Sino-Japanese war. Then Joseon kings proclaimed themselves emperors to be equal to the Chinese. Then ofcourse within 10 years they became a colony of Japan.

China’s gross domestic product increased 5.2% last year, up from 3% in 2022 but down from 8.1% the year prior. India grew 7.2% in the last fiscal year, down from just over 9% a year earlier.

I strongly recommend resurrecting the funny stuff thread & this thread going back to the previous name of breaking news, otherwise this will become new funny stuff thread as the current name subtlety suggests :rolleyes:

Yeah my bad. Finger slipped when writing. I do notice their nationalists online like referring back to late Qing (certainly not peak Qing) a lot coz it reminds them when they were somewhat equal to China which is becoming less of the case now.

Honestly people need to archive these stories more. Don't let them memoryhole it. Remind them how "great" their predictions were.
