Besides the fact that these are dumped randomly all over the sidewalk, there are too many vandals in america that just likes to find ways to destroy things for "fun". There are also "recyclers" that probably steal them as well to get a few bucks out of it.

The last I checked, they seem pretty expensive to ride. One would better off just buying their own if they needed one to get to work or run errands in a city.

Tbh they will recover all of that reputation with interest once they're pressing up to NATO at the carpathians.

I'm not sure future analysts will necessarily say that Russia not escalating the conflict at the start was a mistake.

Like I've said, should Russia have started out by aggressively trying to take over the whole country, they might have been able to blitz through more layers of Ukraine, but they would barely have any consolidation there. Ukraine's population will still be intact. Some people were advocating for Syria/Gulf war style offensives, aside from Russia-Ukraine force balance being closer to US-Iran rather than much weaker Iraq, Gulf war and Syria did not eliminate the ability of the Iraqi or Syrian nation to create new anti American fighting groups.

But most importantly, if Russia had moved up as far as say the transcarpathians, what's to stop NATO from fully attacking, PVA in Korean war style? With full US complements of F35s, aircraft carriers and everything? They'd be blitzing overstretched, newly Russia occupied territory. Would Russia have been able to withstand such an offensive? All while mostly intact Ukrainian population did partisan work?

And don't repeat NATO lies of caring about nukes. They have no issues at all threatening territorial aggression against nuclear states.

Whereas in the current situation, who in NATO wants to put boots on the ground of Ukraine anymore? Whether intentionally or not, Putin assauged the egos of NATO, and now that the population have been convinced that they've already tried their best, they will not contemplate real actions that actually have a chance of beating Russia.
With the benefit of hindsight, there are only 2 mistakes Russia made.

  1. Trusting EU countries to be neutral/non-suicidal. All that money froze in Euros could have been in Yuan.
  2. Failing to mobilize enough troops. They lost large amount of territory due to low manpower from military contracts expiring 6 month after SMO.
All 2 can be attributed to being too naiive, and it has costed them greatly. But the good thing about Russia is they learn fast. They can be very sloppy, but they fix mistakes very fast. 1 year of embarrassment later and country they are better than when war started, both internally and on the battlefield.

Germany had plenty of domains in Africa, Asia and America. A lot of the Astro-Hungary came into being late into the game but a lot of its wealth was inherited from the Holy Roman Empire
Austria-Hungary plundered the ethnicity nearby under HRE. Scandinavia became well off on the fact everyone else destroyed themselves in WWI and WWII. But the moment everyone else is not destroyed, they regressed back to mediocre state with exception of Norway (oil).

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The Russians during wars are like what if we took a metaphorical SUPERRRRRR not-morning/anti-morning person, got him FUCKED UP DRUNK and shit faced the night before, and then rudely awakened him with an entire chicken farm's worth of LOUD roosters in the morning and then denied him his morning coffee and now we suddenly send them off to do a very hard job early in this morning for this guy who is clearly a night owl.

You cannot expect the world's best performance at first...but give him some time (and your stimulant of choice....for example the 'stimulating' effect of being literally robbed and then enduring all those clearly racist degrading insults from the likes of American redditors and other Western basement-dwellers who probably have HIGHLY illegal and gross stuff on their hard drives) and this anti-morning night owl whom you completely trolled into a tough morning job will suddenly prove that he really was the right guy for the job after all! You just have to know how to be a little patient is all.

Also, it must be known that the USA is scared of this nation to the point where they absolutely refused to send their own soldiers for fight the Russians and instead went to the trouble to getting the Ukrainians to fight this fight instead whilst making sure not to send their best weapons due to being limited in stock and being again afraid of losing them to the Russians and now that the counter offensive has failed so badly, they are trying to run away like chickens again.

I reckon the USA thinks they can reset the situation with Russia like the fight never happened but really one of these days, the Russians will fight the USA on the battlefield and given how overweight and badly disciplined and entitled they are, I expect the Russians to take sadistic pleasure killing the hell out of these morons and demonstrate to Lindsay Graham that it is absolutely not the best money spent to weaken the Russians when all it did what paint a red bullseye in the USA and ensure that sooner or later for Russia that peace can only happen when the USA loses everything in the most painful way imaginable

I find it stupid that the neocons refuse to consider the consequences of there actions and ultimately refuse to acknowledge the very real danger of two super powers knowing and planning to eventually get rid of these parasites from the world. They seriously think that Russia has forgotten who caused the Maidan coup and that they can slip away into the shadows again. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes when the USA finally goes into hyperinflation one of these days because I seriously bet you that they eventually will be hunted down and brought to justice one of these days

how many people speak German in Africa compare to French?. you are taking minor thing and exaggerate it.
German were talented enough that they become dominate people in US and still keep German GDP comparable to UK. US was already getting bigger than UK despite less population when you look at size of empire.
All those Spanish/French/British who had real empires were much weaker scientifically than Central and East Europeans. even that French Marie Curie with two nobel prizes was actually Polish.

Egypt says talks over Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam have failed -statement

DUBAI, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Egypt said the latest talks over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) had failed but it would monitor the process of filling and operating the dam.

"Egypt reserves its right, in accordance with international charters and accords, to defend its water and national security in case of any harm," Egypt's ministry of water resources and irrigation said in a statement on Tuesday.

In a statement, Ethiopia's foreign ministry said Egypt had "misrepresented" Ethiopia's positions in the talks, adding that Egypt's "colonial era mentality and erected roadblocks against efforts toward convergence".

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said in July that they would aim to finalise a deal over the disputed dam within four months. Years of stop-start talks have proved unsuccessful.

Egypt has long opposed the project because of worries about its future supplies of water from the Nile, on which it is heavily dependent. Sudan, another downstream country, has expressed concern about the regulation and safety of its own water supplies and dams.

Ethiopia, which argues that it is exercising its right to economic development, said in September it had completed its final phase of filling a reservoir for a massive hydroelectric power plant at the dam on the Blue Nile.

"The meeting was unsuccessful due to Ethiopia's persistent refusal ... to accept any of the technical or legal compromise solutions that would safeguard the interests of all three countries," the Egyptian statement said.

Ethiopia, however, said Egypt was unwilling to compromise.

"Ethiopia remains committed to reach an amicable and negotiated settlement that addresses the interests of the three countries and looks forward to the resumption of the negotiation," the foreign ministry statement said.

Russia reputation depends on how much it can prolong the conflict not quickly gain land. you can see my earliest postings in Ukraine conflict thread where i put in one line Russia interests in prolong conflict. It was based on some readings. that prolong conflict will be able to find solution to Europe not just Ukraine. ultimately Russia will have to build world largest Muslim force not only for external management of Ukraine but seemless integration with Mideast. Putin keep reminding those in Moscow to know these things.
they already reached to that stage where interms of long range strike power Russia exceed Nato.

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Russia Today's correspondent in Saudi Arabia, joked when he asked him about Saudi-Russian cultural cooperation.

The reporter introduced himself to Prince Turki Al-Faisal at the Riyadh International Book Fair, and after he told him that he was a correspondent for Russia Today, he said to him: “Your honor is with us.”
