China remains uncommitted to Xi Jinping’s attendance at Apec summit as tensions persist
- Top diplomat Wang Yi says a decision on Chinese president’s attendance at the meeting will be announced ‘formally in due course’
- Amid shaky relations, Beijing is seeking commitments from Washington ahead of the leaders’ summit in November, sources say
I dont think EV can be made cheaper than ICE car for same size. bigger EV means carrying bigger battery otherwise small batter and large size can shorten the range. EV also expensive to insure and than there is increase weight that not only need bigger rim/tire size but EV eat tires faster. Tires also need crude oil and crude oil is part of various other processes. OPEC+ cuts are due to rapid increase in Iran oil production which is exempt.Didn't The Telegraph claim renewable and EV are bad and big oil is good. These guys just go 180 degree saying OPEC cartel is bad and would get destroyed by EV. What happened to EVs are garbage that were forced upon people by the government.
How Much Oil Does it Take to Make 1 Tire?
We need about five gallons of oil to produce the synthetic rubbers required for a single tire. The whole tire manufacturing process that follows requires two additional gallons of oil. The manufacturing process uses it to fuel the energy required to prepare the materials and assemble the whole tire.
Bigger ones such as truck tires require, even more, averaging 22 gallons of oil. The tire industry often uses gasoline, the production of which also requires oil. For every barrel of oil (42 gallons), they can produce about 19 gallons of gasoline.
The world hasn't even reached peak oil demand and even after that the demand will decrease gradually. And Arabs have been taking precautions for some time. Tourism, finance, trade, being a tax haven, having investments abroad, etc... People who think the Gulf will go bankrupt after 2030 are wrong.Didn't The Telegraph claim renewable and EV are bad and big oil is good. The reality:
Amid a crisis in recruitment, the U.S. military has found a new way of convincing a war-weary Generation Z to enlist: thirst traps.
Chief among these attractive young women in uniform posting sexually suggestive content alongside subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) calls to join up is Hailey Lujan. In between the thirst traps and memes, the 21-year-old makes content extolling the fun of Army life to her 731,000 TikTok followers. “Don’t go to college, become a farmer or a soldier instead,” she instructs viewers in a recent video.

Sewage repeatedly overflowed into the bathrooms and had to be constantly fought back by the troops. “Barracks managers at multiple installations told us they have had to organize working days for service members to repaint external or internal walls, replace ceiling tiles, or clean up significant sewage overflow,” the report said.
“In three of 12 discussion groups, service members said they were concerned about the risk of sexual assault for those living in barracks,” the report said. This finding reflects the U.S. military’s well-documented . According to the Pentagon’s own records, about one-third of all reported incidents of sexual assault happened in on-base housing.
“Officials at one installation told us service members are responsible for cleaning biological waste that may remain in a barracks room after a suicide,” the report said.
“DoD requested about $15 billion for overall facility sustainment for fiscal year 2024 but could not identify how much of this total would be spent toward barracks,” the report said. “In addition, DoD did not know how much it spent on housing allowances for service members who would normally be required to live in barracks, but did not because of insufficient space or poor living conditions.”
Of course China remains uncommitted, considering that more than 130 countries will attend the Belt and Road Forum.
