PNG is a basket case with 1/2 Indonesian GDP per capita and a military worse than the Taliban. Good luck.

Is there any legal way to ban or discourage them from returning?

There has been many ideas lobblied at John Lee and his gov regarding how to prevent the roaches from returning, including seizing roaches' public housing (many of them were on government public housing), this is a good idea as it forces them into the private rental market upon return, the costs of which may deter some (but not all) from returning, as they would be cash-short having wasted most of it in inflationland UK.

For some roaches who were in the front lines, and roach leaders like ex-lawmaker Tanya Chan (who broke COVID rules, then fled to Wanwan & opened a Hongkie cafe) don't need any discouragement, alarms bells would ring the second they pass airport customs, and the police would happily greet them with a pair of handcuffs.

Ultimately there are some disagreement among politicans, some don't mind the water under the bridge approach and allow the moderate terrorist roaches back, especially amid the worker shortage we currently have. I don't think the gov seriously considers preventing/banning their return, although the $1 million bounty on the roach leaders is a good development and hopefully discourages lesser roaches from returning.

Mainland Chinese authorites were much quicker in preventing roaches from entering China, as roaches' Home Return/Mainland Travel-Permits (basically a credit card size ID card that allows HKers go in and out of China) were promptly cancelled, much to the surprise of roaches when they attempted to cross into Shenzhen for weekend holidays when COVID rules lifted. HK cops used Chinese facial AI.... every roach that threw a molotov cocktail, destroyed public/private property, ripped down a Chinese flag, were recorded and IDed, and this data given to Chinese authorities.

Many arrests were made by the HK police with this facial AI.... the roaches were again surprised, I had a mask on, how did they ID me? they thought... The thing is, Chinese facial AI is totally badass, it only needs to capture the eyes...and compare the image to existing databases (like the HKID and Home Return-Permit photo databases) then the roach is identified with 96% accuracy.

Passengers on board the Titan submersible were classified as 'mission specialists' to avoid legal jeopardy if they died, says report

  • Passengers on board the Titan submersible were called "mission specialists."
  • The word "passenger" was never used to avoid severe legal repercussions if anyone died.
  • This is according to Rob McCallum, a former OceanGate advisor, who spoke to The New Yorker.
Paying customers on board the Titan submersible were not referred to as 'passengers' as part of a bid to avoid severe legal repercussions if anyone died, a former consultant to OceanGate claimed in an interview with The New Yorker.

Rob McCallum told the magazine that those on board were instead described as "mission specialists," with the New Yorker reporting that no one bought tickets but instead contributed a set amount of money to "fund their own missions."

Tourists reportedly paid $250,000 for a place on the vessel, which took them down to the wreck of the Titanic.

But "there were no passengers — the word 'passenger' was never used," McCallum said.
The former OceanGate consultant said in The New Yorker interview that it is illegal to transport passengers in an "unclassed, experimental submersible" under US regulations, but that companies face a lesser degree of legal jeopardy for killing crew.

It is more about creating space for Iran whose oil production is nearly pre sanction level now. Iran is taking advantage of Europe weakness to get things in its favor. Iranian tech whether in Aviation or engineering is fundamentally Western and if it is utilizing it more it means it is getting stuff or has increased domestic production.

Iran announced that its new Damavand-2 naval vessel will be equipped with hypersonic missiles, in the latest illustration of Iran’s advancing military capabilities, Rudaw reported on 3 July.
In the coming days, the Iranian navy’s northern fleet will receive a Damavand-class frigate, which will be capable of carrying helicopters, missiles, torpedoes, modern guns, and air defense weapons, state media reported.
Shahram Irani, a rear admiral in the Iranian navy, said that the new vessel will be equipped with hypersonic missiles as well as the most advanced defense equipment.
In early June, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aerospace unit unveiled its first hypersonic ballistic missile, the Fattah, with a range of up to 1,400 kilometers.
The Iranian defense ministry in late May unveiled a new ballistic missile with capabilities to strike targets 2,000 kilometers away and carry warheads weighing 1,500 kilograms.
Ballistic missiles can travel at hypersonic speeds (Mach 5) but have set trajectories and limited maneuverability.
Hypersonic weapons fly at speeds of at least Mach 5 and are highly maneuverable and able to change course during flight, making them almost impossible to target with air defense systems.
“It doesn’t matter what the threat is. If you can’t see it, you can’t defend against it,” General John Hyten, the former vice chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated in January 2020 regarding hypersonic weapons.
Hyten explained further, “We don’t have any defense that could deny the deployment of such a weapon against us … Our defense is deterrent capability.”
In May of this year, US Air Force Gen. Glen D. Van Herck testified in May before the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee that “Hypersonic weapons are extremely difficult to detect and counter given the weapons’ speed and maneuverability, low flight paths and unpredictable trajectories.”
Van Herck also expressed concern about Russian and Chinese efforts to develop hypersonic weapons and delivery platforms designed to evade detection across multiple domains and strike targets anywhere on the globe, including North America.
Russian military officials claimed in 2022 that they fired hypersonic missiles for the first time in Ukraine to target what they said was an underground weapons storage site.
In April, the US Navy announced it is itself pursuing what it calls a Hypersonic Air Launched Offensive Anti-Surface (HALO) weapon, awarding two contracts to Raytheon Missiles and Defense and Lockheed Martin, with a total value of $116 million to develop the system.
This would allow US jets taking off from aircraft carriers to launch hypersonic missiles capable of sinking ships.
The HALO system will be a “high speed, long-range air-launched weapon that will provide greater anti-surface warfare capability than what’s available today,” the navy announced.

Strange that the opening salvo is so restrained. Even in trade wars, you want to take advantage of the element of surprise and maximize damage on first strike.

The Dutch have two months to figure out what 勿謂言之不預也 means
The west have two months to back down, otherwise China's gonna play some big cards.

What does she want ? to slow down the fall of $

Yes and I'm sure she's also lobbying for China to drop kick Russia (i.e. Ukraine).

Beijing is probably leaving a path for them to save face. But one can only hold out so long before you whip out the big stick.

It wouldn't be too hard to do so. I'm sure somewhere in their laws that if you take actions that are treasonous then you could be labelled "persona non grata."

I've heard that there are systems out there that can "see" through the masks and have a complete picture of your face.

Why two months? What's going to happen then?

China hits out at US ‘coercion’ after Dutch move to curb chip gear exports

  • Commerce ministry calls on the Netherlands to ‘refrain from abusing export control measures’
  • It says Washington is trying to ‘artificially promote industry decoupling and disrupt the supply chain’

The measures, which will come into effect on September 1, do not specifically mention China. But under the new rules, Dutch firm ASML – the only company in the world that makes highly sophisticated chip-making machines – will have to apply for a licence to ship its advanced deep ultraviolet lithography, or DUV, systems to China.

Contrary to the opinions online, I think China's new export control rule has nothing to do with Yellen who is only on a China trip to get China to buy US Treasuries and probably coordinate interest rates. This new export control rule is directly related to the Netherlands' litho machine export restrictions. China's new foreign relations law which just came into effect is the stepping stone for this new policy.

Ga and Ge is just a trial, China has tools to actually make the west scream. The cope on reddit and twitter is hilarious, five minutes of Wikipedia and suddenly everyone is an expert on semiconductor chemicals. "But it's not a rare earth metal", "We have lots of it right under our feet".
