The Xi meeting is pretty cringe. US did not deserve a exceptional treatment. It makes all the no red carpet gesture pointless. Some people say Blinken must have offered concession to earn him one. I doubt it. There no evidence, and if he had, would you trust any American politician?

Straight out of Elensky's playbook ...
CHISINAU, June 19 (Reuters) - Moldova's Constitutional Court on Monday banned the pro-Russian Shor party that has led months of protests and is headed by an exiled businessman accused by the West and the government of trying to destabilise the country.

The court declared the party led by Ilan Shor, who lives in Israel, unconstitutional. Its decision triggered an immediate ban and the justice ministry will create a commission to complete all legal procedures for the party's dissolution.

Usually things happen behind closed doors for weeks to prep for a meeting of this caliber. So we don't have full knowledge of what went on behind the scenes. Also, any change is likely incremental and slow, very rarely is there fundamental massive change short of war.
True.
They literally said before the trip that there will not be any huge breakthroughs. The key is what was NOT SAID in public is the most impactful, since most of the public statements are regurgitations of what's been said for the past few decades (i.e., human rights, Taiwan, SCS, rule of law, blah blah), but the devil is in the details, vast majority of which is not public.
Was just responding to a previous post that said America must have made significant concessions in order to meet Xi. That’s just not true.

It was pointless and ill-advised just like the Baerbock's meeting with Yi&Gang in April. How can you allow this lowly U.S. bureaucrat to lecture you about Hong Kong, Uyghurs, Tibet, Taiwan province etc. in your own turf, especially at a time when U.S. is placing all of its efforts in impeding China's technological progress and is making a mockery out of China's territorial integrity by arming Taiwan province and deploying troops there ? I've said this once and I'll say it again, China needs to take greater care of its honour and dignity !

To be fair, they basically made Blinken travel thousands of miles to see Xi's middle finger in person. Blinken's lectures were just a consolation prize

In remarks published on Monday, Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi revealed details about the involvement of intelligence services from nearly 20 countries in the violent riots that swept Iran last fall.

“Among the countries that have been active in these areas are the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Albania, Australia, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Norway, Bahrain, New Zealand, as well as the occupying Zionist regime,” he said, according to excerpts of his interview with Khameni.Ir.

The following are the highlights of the interview:

-- Movements by French diplomats in Tehran to gather field information on the riots and the state of Iran’s security and law enforcement apparatus and exchanging the information with an intelligence officer of a European country's embassy.

-- Attempts by the Zionist regime of Israel to create a fund to support rioters and protesters through the initiative and financing of the United States and other countries.

-- A meeting of the ambassadors of 28 European countries at the compound of a European embassy to discuss the possibility of closing European embassies, with a focus on Germany.

-- The use of non-European nationals (Afghans, Pakistanis, Iraqis) and the presence of European nationals to gather information on the riots, which led to the arrest of 40 individuals from one neighboring country, a French-Irish national in Khorasan Razavi province, and a German national in Ardabil province.

-- Intensification of activities and support by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in creating necessary cyberspace platforms for disseminating news of the riots, including efforts to send technical equipment, escape tools, and lifting sanctions on mobile communication devices.

-- A request by the CIA to establish a joint team with the Israeli regime’s Mossad and Britain’s MI6 to reactivate the project of assassinating Iranian scientists, especially in the nuclear, space, and military fields towards the end of the riots.

-- Joint periodic meetings of the intelligence services of the UAE and the Zionist regime in an Arab country to support the riots in Iran.

The unrest followed the death of a young Iranian woman, Mahsa Amini, who died in hospital on September 16 last year, days after she collapsed at a police station in Tehran. Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization issued a report, saying Amini's death was caused by prior illness rather than alleged blows to her head.

The protests were peaceful at first, but soon turned violent. Steered by foreign intelligence services and their hostile media outlets, rioters began fatally attacking security forces and indulging in vandalism acts against public property in several cities.

Wouldn't the railways be easily disrupted by enemy forces though? Missiles or bombers, and you only need to destroy one bridge or viaduct to render the long network unusable for a long time.
You mean railroad inside SCO countries? Bombing those facilities are act of war, so would be met by bombing of NATO countries too. The crippling effect would be the same to NATO.

Besides, both Russia and China have dedicated troops (Russian Railway Troops) or manpowers (former PLA Railway Corps and Engineering Corps, today in the form of SOEs) to quickly repair these infrastructures in war times. Small sabtage isn't going to make difference. Big boming campaign is suicidal.

Still unless China makes a big change in policy from this Blinken visit, I don’t really see a problem with Xi saying hi to Blinken, especially when it’s better not to prematurely open up a new front in the pacific when the USA is still burning through its supplies in Ukraine and it seems that Biden and the White House much prefers to ignore the Pentagons advise and keep on fighting in Ukraine. This small concession or gesture could go a long way to making the USA continue its fooling around in Europe without scaring the USA into making other more crazy moves too soon (but inevitably they surely will but China will be more prepared by then). In the end, the USA is likely to make stupid moves regardless of the visit so anything that to lessen the chances of even more stupid moves even for a moment (provided it is within reason) should be considered in that instance without letting pride dictate the direction of how things proceed. Besides, the USA should be more worried about China selling off more of its debt if they continue to screw around so it’s not like China cannot hit back if the USA continues its good cop bad cop routine like in years prior
