Or you align with that stronger neighbor, which is something that say Laos is doing, but also what Mexico and Canada is doing in relation to their neighbor, the US.

Ofc, as it currently stands, the Philippines have a longer history of alignment with the US (willing or unwillingly) not to mention it's 'elite' has lots of relations with US (military officers graduating in schools etc. in the US, similarly with a lot of wealthy individuals and their kids going to prestigious universities in the US).
Ha, Mexico and the US - that's what's called an unequal partner. Mexico has endured humiliation after humiliation from the US.

Let's see..... we have the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo where Mexico lost half of its territory! The overthrow of Francisco Madero after U.S interference, incursions into Mexican territory ordered by Woodrow Wilson, and the constant inference of Mexican internal affairs by the DEA, CIA, etc...

Mexico has learned to take it up the ass because it's small fish trying to survive with a shark. Yea, I think Philippines knows what's going to happen if China rules Asia. And it's not China's fault. Just the rule of the jungle.

No, because it can look at China's smaller neighbors and China's history, in how it dealt with its vassals.

Spoilers, it won't be like the US, but more like how it currently is with Laos, with mutual beneficial trade.

That’s the result of prolonged and deliberate programming by western MSM and Hollywood, which teaches non-Chinese Asians that the only correct and acceptable response to anti-Chinese racism is to proudly announce that they are Korea/Japanese/whatever; while Chinese can only answer back with quotes from their little red-white-blue book about how their ancestors escaped China because of blah blah lazy bad CCP fan fiction, and how they hate the CCP more than the racists. At no point is it acceptable to challenge the racist on their anti-Chinese racism.
I would say that’s only one of the core reasons behind the current state of the Asian-American society. The other parts of it include:
1. Not understanding American society at all. The older generations are particularly ignorant of the history and social fabric of the US. They can’t see the subtle and harmful racism committed by other groups, particularly “whites”.
2. The older generations brought their grudges with them and cannot see the bigger picture while the younger generations are influenced by contemporary politics in Asia.
3. Perspectives of economic differences. Some Asian American communities, particularly those from SEA, want to split off from Asian Americans since they want Affirmative Action. They believe that all East Asian communities are filthy rich (thanks to the good minority myth) when that is absolutely false. A walk through the Chinatowns, Little Tokyos and Koreatowns really paint a different picture.
4. Overwhelming subtle racism and the past poor state of Asia as a whole basically broke them. That is why self hate is so prevalent in Asian American communities. If they can redirect the fire to someone else just for a slight respite like the “but I’m {insert an ethnic group here}” claim, they would do it.

I don't even know why this is a surprise to some or many here since this is exactly what John Mearsheimer specifically mentioned during his debate in Australia with Hewitt back in 2019 (am not sure about the date) where John basically said that with respect to favorability the US can make just about any country become an enemy overnight since the American government has an excellent PROPAGANDA department par excellence.

Any enemy the US aparatchik declares an enemy will undergo unrelenting attack that it will almost inevitably become the greatest threat to America and its way of life. Which guarantees American tacit support even if the threat was wholly fabricated and or manufactured.

Fake Elon Musk at event enrages Chinese attendees hoping to meet the real one

  • Gary Kong, an entrepreneur hosting the event to launch his magazine, says that he was expecting Musk to attend but that he never guaranteed his presence
  • Reports on Chinese social media describe the crowd becoming embarrassed and outraged after a celebrity impersonator appears and then leaves.

Fake Elon looks like a WAY more interesting person than real Elon and his snake oil hype.

That's a lame approach. The current administration of SK has 4 more years to go. After waiting all the 4 years to see then what, if this policy sticks, or even intensifies? The waited 4 years of precious time is wasted. What about the next next administration? Where is the guarantee that the next administration's policy will stick? The discontinuity of its policies works both directions. China has been already drastically reducing imports from SK since the start of the current administration of SK, causing massive unprecedented trade deficits to SK. The Chinese government has been already reportedly making everything difficult for SK businesses to do business in China. It's time to let go of hopium on SK. The clear thing here is hatred, anxiety, antagonism and hostility against China among the SK populace have been only growing already to the level of mental madness and will only continue to get more and more toxic as they feel more and more China while they are being broken, thinking China is eating their lunch.

Exactly.

That is why South Korea is not really a problem for China.

It is North Korea that is a practical problem for China, because the money and stuff flows one way.

With South Korea it flows the other way.

Since when? From the start I only saw Western articles scoffing the call between Xi and Zelensky. That's why I don't see the SCMP as anything unbiased. They want to be seen as serious journalism when all they do is try to have one foot on both sides. They have to write stories that perpetuate the Western narrative because they want the West to recognize them because that's what the West expects. There's nothing neutral about it.

I think SCMP is a counter intelligence disinformation operation by the Chinese ministry of propaganda. I really do.

The SCMP used to be a legit paper, going back decades now.

It all changed after Ma Yun bought it.

Nothing changed in the beginning, then it was all crap after a couple of years.

Nothing but disinformation.

They fucked up this time though. They don't seem to realize that from just a cursory glance at China, they're not dealing with Germany, Japan or Russia.

Germany was still using horses in WW2, Japan didn't have radar until late in the war and imported 80% of their oil from the US, Russia got mauled by Germany in 1945, was immediately put on total sanctions at their weakest, and didn't demographically recover for decades.

Note how no Russian leader was born in the 1940s: Yeltsin born 1930s, Putin born 1950s. This was reflected in how they couldn't get mid level talent back in the 1980s except Gorbachev.

China doesn't have any of these problems. They have far less leverage on China than they did on Germany, Japan and Russia.

Today, 24 years ago.

3 Chinese journalists were killed when a USAF B-2 bomber dropped JDAM guided bombs on the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, Serbia in an unprovoked, deliberate, dastardly attack on China and the Chinese people abroad.

Alongside the Yinhe Incident of 1993 and the Hainan Island Incident of 2001 - NEVER FORGET.

8th May 2024… Chinese internet is ablaze with activity. SDF is temporarily offline because the servers can’t handle the traffic. Veteran and newbie members alike have been reduced to tears of joy, some even faint…

…why you ask? Because a grainy, blurred and obfuscated image has just been “leaked”, apparently taken at the airbase at Lop Nur, or a base in Xinjiang… the image depicts a 4 wheel bogie and strong bulky undercarriage, with a black painted landing gear bay door open… the bay door has sawtoothed edges…
