This is symbolic of how the West wants to see the world because they even admit this bill is most likely not going to survive They don't want others to determine their own fate but at the same time they want to treat them as not one of their own. They want everyone else stuck in this limbo where they cry for freedom and self-determination but they don't want it for anyone else because they still want to be able to control everyone. They don't want non-white Puerto Rico to have equal power of a state and they don't want to lose power over Puerto Rico if they choose to be a country of their own. Just think about that when they wanted Hong Kong to break away from China. Just look the Jan. 6th rioters. They hide behind democracy and freedom to what motivated them but they want to deny democracy to people who don't follow their politics so they can win. When they hold up freedom and democracy, it's only for themselves and no one else. Then they want to be looked up to and given the respect of being the champion of freedom and democracy. Any dictator can claim the same thing if all it takes is believing in these things for only yourself.
People don't like how I say the West wants to put a light switch on where they can turn off China anytime they want. They think that's absurd. Trump wanted that of China when one of his demands was that an unelected American be a part of the Chinese government where this American would have veto power over anything China was planning to do. That's what I hate about a lot of Chinese who think they're so civil and they don't like Chinese engaging in hyperbole. They don't like my analogy of the light switch because that's too simplistic.
When Trump demanded an unelected by China US official to be able to sit in the Chinese government and have veto power over everything China does, that's the long way around in saying the US wants an American dictator in control of China. They're not going to say that out loud because that would prove the US doesn't believe in the very democracy they hide behind to bomb other countries for. A light switch is the best way to describe exactly of the kind of easy power they want over others. Dictator is the apropos term to describe exactly what they want. All that other mumbo jumbo is all about confusing people hiding what they really going for because they know that would make them look bad if they told the truth.
The Chinese should engage in hyperbole against the West especially when they freely lie in their goals about China. During the US midterm election, there was an intellectual criticism of Democrats I heard. They said Democrats care more about scoring points than winning. That's how a lot of Chinese think. They want to preserve a perception of Chinese magnificence when no one else see it. It's no different from those that argue Chinese can make the best computer chip in the world but if the West doesn't buy and use it, it's a failure. There was a debate in this forum about how China should declare in an invasion of Taiwan that they won't target civilians. Why bother when civilian deaths are bound to happen in a war thus will be used as propaganda against China that they go back on their word?
Why bother countering point by point when all China has to say is Taiwan and other countries in Asia work against China for the West who's only in it for white supremacy as history shows is their sole motivation and China has the right to defend itself against them and countries who work for them. That's the opposing excuse of how the West hides behind democracy as the reason for what they do even invade and bomb other countries. China's stance is what the world recognizes. The recent US summit with Africa leaders is American desperation because everyone else sees what China sees. With China as an alternative out there, they're having a hard time spreading their message especially when they don't have the money to bribe countries into their side. The US is not offering more market access to the US for their official allies so what are their chances of convincing anyone else?
