Ukraine is going to deeply impact Europe when labor need to be replaced.
“Most Ukrainian male workers returned home to fight, and it has been challenging to find replacements,” Milarex CEO Thomas Farstad told IntraFish.
Ukrainian migrant workers have made a major contribution to the Polish economy over the last decade, with one study claiming they contributed around 13 percent of Poland’s GDP growth between 2013 and 2018.
Poland is home to some of the world's largest manufacturing operations, including Mowi salmon processing subsidiary Morpol and Summa Equity-owned Milarex.
Some studies estimate there were between 2.2 million and 2.7 million Ukrainian labor migrants in Poland prior to the war, of which the majority were men aged 26-35.
