Not exactly a breaking news per-se for us laymans/public, but the following could be an interesting scoop if you are involved in the construction profession/sector.

Here's a short analysis Tweet on the Kerch Strait Bridge that suffered a massive explosion, of which several sections of the bridge collapsed yesterday as a result. I'm neither a civil/structure engineer nor an architect, therefore anyone who has better knowledge and technicalities on this subject can add more information or rectify anything if found inaccurate.

What do you guys think of this?
The steel doesn't seem corroded but the monolith design could make the repair of that bridge an nightmare, in the Chinese design looks like that if the bridge loss an span it can be repaired even with a provisional one.

Russians joke about "inferior" Chinese quality all the time, seems like there is a need for some self-reflection.

To be honest back into mostly working order in 1 evening and full capacity resume in a month is speed expected of China but not speed expected of Russia.

Even if the border guards are surprisingly bad, the one responsible for repairing infrastructure are surprisingly good.

It is beginning to look increasingly wise to sit this one out to avoid risking an even greater alienation with former allies that can do a lot of damage to the U.S. economy—and it won’t be reputational damage.

The Russian Railway Troops have managed to repair bombed out tracks in Ukraine in two days, and I heard of them repairing some tracks which had washed away in the BAM, after the permafrost melted, in two or three days when some people were estimating 2-3 months. So they are pretty effective.

The actual civilian Russian Railways though are known for being slow like molasses. Some projects in the Far East are severely delayed because of them.

In order for everyone to make a better judgment, I think it is necessary to upload some pictures related to the structure of the Crimea Bridge. I'm personally leaning towards the single detonation conjecture of a car bomb.

Prehaps this would be a better investment for the Russians in the future considering their own lack of intel gathering capabilities. Operating more satellites would likely be expensive for them given the economy will take years to reoriented themselves and require vast resources to achieve it.
Because such drones have the potential to stay in the air for months and even years at near-space altitudes, they can act as quasi-satellites, the expert said. They also have advantages over other types of aircraft.

Definitely, this is a good near abroad strategic recon asset to supplement an optical recon satellite network. But the Russians still have to actually invest in it.
