Ah epoch times.

I don't begrudge people for necessarily being ignorant, but I think you must surely know enough from your years spent here to know who they are and the quality of "news" they produce.

You have an opportunity to either:
- acknowledge that you didn't know who they are and that you incorrectly perceive them as an outlet of legitimate news, or
- acknowledge that you know who they are, but wanted to post it here to get a rise out of people

Be aware, in the last few months there has been revision to the rules where posting of actively poor quality news and content is subject to moderation, and we expect members to actively justify and defend their links (whether it's to tweets, articles or otherwise) if it doesn't pass the common sense test.
The question is, at the start of the article they say it is based on news from PRC State media.
So the article is not what they are independently reporting.

But Epoch Times is known for not being honest about anything, including what they are basing themselves on so you'll need to find what PRC state media they quoted and if there isn't any, then, well, you know... that's just the Epoch Times continuing to earn their reputation.

Flight Master said 9,583 flights had been canceled nationwide as of 10:35 p.m. on Sept. 21, accounting for 59.66 percent of those total scheduled journeys of the day, reported China.com.

There are no Typhoon around Beijing either.

So go to Flight Master and see if that is true. Here is their website:

I don't see anything about 9,583 cancelled flights but I don't play around with that site so even if it were to be true, I see that 9.5K is supposed to represent just over 50% cancellation rate for the day. Now... I also see there is a map presented by rumor spreaders with just 2 airplanes above Beijing. So... almost 10K is just over half. The other half is... 2. Does that make sense? I don't think so.

Fact is that the West gets in a rumor frenzy anytime something may or may not be happening in China and they step on their own feet quite often. I don't pay attention to this and always wait for the dust to settle in China before ready what had occurred.

No, the question is, are you actually entertaining what they have written with any sort of credibility that is worth anything more than immediate disregard?

Because if you are unable to pass this simple test of common sense, then perhaps you may legitimately be incompatible with this forum at the cognitive level, and it would be more beneficial for you and for the rest of the forum to part ways so you don't waste both or time and everyone else's time.

On the other hand, if you are able to acknowledge other people's input on this and learn from it, then perhaps there is still room for some semblance of conversation.

which is the official media account of city of Dalian so it's not fake news.

However, flight cancellations could be the result of numerous reasons. The article suggested covid as the reason. Granted it's unusual, but we currently don't have enough info to entertain any serious talks of a potential coup.
