Hungary is currently controlled by a far right fascist who recently gave a speech against race mixing. He's friendly with China and Russia because he's being isolated by the EU and America. For example, Hungary is one of the most "pragmatic" and least ideological EU member states.
So Hungary is much more neutral and friendly to everyone - which includes Russia and China.
That means Hungary has more disagreements on EU policy.
At the same time, Hungary has one of the friendliest business environments in the EU and is already a battery production hub.
So why not invest in Hungary like CATL is doing?
EDIT: Hungarians also use "Eastern name order" which means surname first. Apparently this was a legacy of the Huns. And generally there is a acknowledgement of a distant Asian connection.
And Japan is going back to "Eastern name order" instead of "Western name order" for English translations.
I believe in the principle of the enemy of my enemy of course, but that doesn't make Hungary a decent or friendly country.
We are fast approaching the same situation the Qing dynasty was in prior to the Opium wars, lots to export but not much to import from the west. For investment to pay off countries need to give something other than their currency. Otherwise when decoupling occurs all investments will be for nothing.
