It wouldn't have been possible to use modern western planes and poor quality domestic planes at the same time. Passengers would have refused to fly on those airlines. Importing foreign planes could still stimulate the domestic service economy and China has a small part in the supply chain of Airbus planes today. For domestic aerospace companies it is better to focus on military contracts until they're good enough to compete on the civilian market.MDD was bought out by Boeing, it was later renamed B717, never unsupported.
You really think that Y-10 would have jumpstarted civilian airliner industry? There would never have been engines back then, plus it was an already outdated design.
It wasn’t too close, most of the government was deeply mistrustful of the West.
Yeah. We hear you.
India's retail inflation 'eased' from 7.04% to 7.1%? Isn't that increasing by 0.06%? What kind of mathematics is this?
Math is correct this time. But how does a Wholesale Price Index of >15% shows the 'resilience' of the Indian economy?
Howabout some perspective:
India may not have the worse inflation figures in the world. But comparing that with the dismal inflation figures in the West is really lowering the bar. For India, they only can benchmark themselves with the West, not the best. If the West is doing good, India will compare itself against its smaller South Asian neigbours, especially Pakistan. If the West is doing poorly, then India will gloat that it is doing better than the West. Yeah, that's Jai Hind!
China threatens 'forceful measures' if US House Speaker visits Taiwan
Speaking in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said any visit by Ms Pelosi would “seriously undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
“If the US side obstinately clings to this course, China will definitely take resolute and forceful measures to firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.
“The United States must be fully responsible for all the consequences caused by this,” he added.
China is a socialist nation committed to the ideology of Marxism-Leninism. They are currently the world leaders in green energy. They have lifted millions of people out of poverty, as recognized by the UN and World Bank. They now have a larger middle class than the U.S. They have some of the top education outcomes in the world.
Wages have grown for three consecutive decades. They have a population of 1.4 billion people. Their infrastructure is world-class, with high speed trains taking someone anywhere they need to go. The list goes on. They accomplished all of this without dropping a single bomb, launching a single drone, or starting a single war. When the U.S. thought their economic reforms were going to lead to capitalism and "liberal democracy," they portrayed them positively. The Kung Fu Panda era.
Then the dipshits in Washington realized China had no intentions of letting capitalists run the country, which they had said all along, and the panic set in of the new Red Scare. Now they publish endless fear mongering about human rights atrocities and 1984 George Orwell, just like with the Soviet Union before.
The political realignment is well underway. America still thinks it's up against the Soviet Union and that this is the 1980s. It isn't, and China learned a lot from the USSR's mistakes. We are going down. A much more peaceful and forward-thinking nation is leading the future. When you abandon the propaganda of your oppressors, you will see it is actually quite bright.
