Josep Borrell: The EU is losing the narrative on Ukraine
The EU's point of view on the events in Ukraine does not prevail among the G20 countries, Josep Borrel complained.
Josep Borrell outlines how the EU is losing the narrative propaganda game against Russia at a time when the EU grapples with an economic crisis.
Opinions "sharply differ," the head of European diplomacy admitted. While the G7 countries "are united in condemning Russia and imposing sanctions against it," other countries "often hold a different point of view," Borrel said.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, after the G20 Foreign Minister’s meeting in Bali, said that the “global battle of narratives when it comes to Ukraine," adding that something needs to be done.
"The global battle of narratives is in full swing and, for now, we are not winning. As the EU, we have to engage further to refute Russian lies and war propaganda, making it clear who is responsible for the aggression and hence its consequences," Borrell said.
