For the US these days, developing and introducing new weapons seems to be a huge challenge. Zumwalt, LCS, Ford, F-35, and now hypersonics. Everyone of them, full of drama. This is despite having the largest defence budget on earth by a massive margin.
This is what happens when the MIC enjoys unchecked corruption and monopolistic behaviors. Procurement prices have become grotesquely bloated, so that those defense corporations get more profits. Operations and R&D becomes grossly inefficient. Why spend so much on R&D when they can sell more of the same old stuff like Apaches, F-15s, Tomahawks, and Burke's at inflated prices? Almost every new defence procurement is an opportunity to fleece money from the US taxpayers.
Russia and China have state-owned defence companies that cannot fleece their governments. That is why they can keep prices at reasonable levels and get more bang for their bucks. Russia and China may not have the greatest military on earth, but they can procure a hell of a lot of firepower with far more modest budgets.

In the UK there's more hatred towards eastern Europeans like Poles and Romanian than black people, it was one of the biggest factors for brexit.

That is unfortunately the problem with many loser Asians who want to confront China. They only truly understand hard power, not soft power. Just because they have not been punched in the face before, they still think that they are somehow 'superior' to China.
Arrogance. Arrogance is the biggest problem in India, Malaysia, and other like-minded countries in Asia. India with their post-colonial, "Successor to the British Raj", and Jai Hind nonsense. Malaysia being arrogant, because for a time it was in contention of joining the Four Asian Tigers club.
About India's problems with China, we already have a few spicy threads to talk in detail about that. But basically India confronted China at Aksai Chin, and they got a good slap in the face. Not enough to stop their monkey business, but enough to stop their Jawans from any more salami-slicing game for 2 years and counting. Would India come back? Sure, and they will get a greater spanking next time.
I wanna talk about Malaysia this time. Recently, the Malaysian media was cheering a Malaysian warship finally getting to fire its old Exocet missile in RIMPAC 2022. Like this is such a big deal! Some Malaysians even cheered on and say that this is a good sign of pushing China back from the SCS. Some even use Muslim phrases such as "Insyallah" that Malaysia will prevail against China. Those poor idiots. Malaysia is not even a US ally. It's navy can't even fight the Indonesian or Singaporean Navies. Yet Malaysia has more SCS disputes with these two neighbours than with China. So what the hell is Malaysia gonna be doing to China in the SCS? Malaysia's pathetic navy is even not worth the PLAN's attention in the SCS.
That Malaysian arrogance have a long origin. But most of it manifested relatively recently. Malaysia in the 1980s and 1990s had hitched on Japan's economic rise and grew fast. During those years, the average Malaysian had a more prosperous standard of living than the average Chinese. But unlike the real Asian Tigers and China. Malaysia bought too much into its own hype, and succumbed to corruption and arrogance. The Malaysian economy slowed since the 1997 Asian financial crisis, and then finally stagnated during the 2008 global financial crisis. That is why too many Malaysians yearned to go back to those 'glory days' in the 1980s and 1990s, when Malaysia was riding high on the economic engine of Japan and the West. They've failed to realize that those days are never coming back. The ironic thing is that China's BRI was going to come in and revitalize the Malaysian economy. But alas, the Malaysian PM at that time was so god-awfully corrupted, he became deeply unpopular with the Malaysian populace. Hence the NED had an field time getting Malaysians to hate him, hate China, and vote into power: Mahathir Mohammad. An ex-PM who is also the most sinophobic PM in Malaysian history. This man had historical blood on his hands. He performed his role wonderfully. He cancelled nearly all Chinese BRI projects in Malaysia, and impeded future Chinese investments into Malaysia. He tried to get Japan to come back and invest big in Malaysia again. But that was a fool's errand. The economy started slumped, but he blamed the previous PM, and indirectly blamed China for Malaysia's problems. Then in early 2020, he schemed and suddenly resigned. Letting Malaysia fall into political chaos just before Covid-19 struck. Good job!
So while the Chinese are no longer developing, but actually playing with 5G technologies. Malaysians are still dreaming about their glory days in the 1980s and 1990s. A time when Malaysia was nearly an Asian Tiger, and China was still beneath them. So hell no to those Huawei 5G 'spying stations'. But hell yes to more demented teachings of Salafi-Wahhabism Islam. Those would really make Malaysia a better place! Malaysia still haven't woken up yet to the fact that it is already a loser, steadily heading to the last place in SEA. Perhaps even when Cambodia catches up, Malaysia might still not have woken up.
